One focus area of the Amazon Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) mission is to provide tools, resources, and environments that support safe, efficient, and healthy behaviors and encourage employees to proactively manage their health and well-being. To support this focus area and given the rapid business growth across Brazil, Amazon is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Professional to join our team. This individual will play a critical role in driving operational implementation of WHS projects/programs at Country, State and/or site level. This individual will execute WHS projects/programs as well as drive WHS operational excellence for our business. The role will identify and facilitate best practice sharing across the organization and incorporate these best practices into our standards. It will also actively benchmark and seek solutions to help solve current and future business challenges. This individual will support annual improvement projects that span across both high consequence and high frequency risks, Change Management of new or redesign of equipment and sites, support ramp up of launches and provide expertise in incident investigations, data analysis as well as other WHS related initiatives. This role is expected to travel interstate and locally, with at least 30% of time at site. Must be able to work flexible hours, which could include day, nights, and weekends and supporting WHS field teams during peaks. This role, based in Brazil supporting all business types and will support all networks to execute towards our goals of safety excellence.

Key job responsibilities
- Ensure world-class project and change management execution across assigned operations.
- Deep-dive organizational trends and partner with WW WHS teams, Brazil Operations, Amazon Customer Excellence System Teams (ACES), PXT and WHS leaders in the business to develop sustainable actions to reduce risk and continuously improve WHS performance including the scoping, design and execution of continuous improvement projects.
- Partner with Global corporate and other regional field safety personnel to leverage global safety best practices and deploy into Brazil network.
- Benchmark internally and externally to develop solutions for current and future business challenges.
- Lead and/or review Serious Injury and Serious Near Miss incident investigations reports to guarantee consistency and perform high quality deep dives. Provide coaching to WHS team on incident investigations and execute verification mechanisms for key “Network Actions”.
- Develop or support Brazil specific WHS strategic plans and annual improvement plans
- Develop and supporting implementation of programs and initiatives to manage associate health and safety, including and not limited to onboarding, injury prevention, early intervention, wellness program and injury management including the development and execution of strategy and teams in this space
- Lead and coordination monthly and quarterly WHS business reviews
- Develop white papers to support execution of critical strategic WHS projects, and support presenting at executive level
- Complete detailed multi-factorial analysis to determine critical and key controls to project execution.
- Analyse current WHS KPIs to determine effectiveness and propose refinements to expedite development of a proactive WHS culture within the organization.
- Execute special projects, as assigned.
- Master’s Degree safety/industrial/health/quality engineering, safety or other science or engineering discipline from an accredited university. - Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certified - Work experience in a low margin, high volume environment with warehousing and logistics - Experience with logistics and road safety (long haul and middle mile) - Multi-country experience
