**About the Role**:

- Provide functional support in the Corporate Affairs area, specially developing and managing the execution of the Public Affairs strategy for the company in Brazil.- Risk: Advise leadership on key risks to BHP Brazil and ensure suitable strategies are in place to prevent and mitigate. Monitor and report key movements that may impact on BHP´s priorities in the country.
- Governance: Act as BHP´s nominated committee/ working group member, to uphold highest governance standards and ensure BHP exposure is limited in the Joint Ventures in Brazil.
- Influence: Through the governance structure, work collaboratively with Samarco and Renova Foundation public affairs teams. Represent BHP towards public agents and other institutions following engagement strategy previously aligned and approved.

**About You**:

- Extensive experience in building strategies, stakeholder mapping and engagement, and conflict resolution.- Extensive experience in issues management and policy design, development and advocacy on key issues including social licence, human rights, and transparency.
- Demonstrated understanding of the BHP´s approach to Sustainability, Environment and Community.
- Proven ability to work with senior internal and external stakeholders to develop relationships and plans that contribute to sustainable outcomes.
- Experience working in complex socio-political environment, including cross-cultural environments and working in multi-disciplinary teams to support the achievement of outcomes.
- Extensive experience in the area of public affairs management, preferably in the resources sector.
- Well-developed issues management skills.
- Ability to analyse risk to the business and actively report on implications on operations with recommendations for mitigation, as needed.
- Ability to work with a high level of autonomy.
- High levels of integrity and discretion in dealing with sensitive issues.
- Demonstrate commitment to the BHP Charter and Code of Business Conduct.

Required:

- Tertiary qualification in social or governmental affairs. Masters degree preferred.
- High level, effective verbal and written communication in Portuguese and English.
- Strategy and negotiation.
- Influencing - working with JVs team that is not mandated to align with BHP standards and policies.
- Strong relationship building - able to develop strong relationships with JV partners and shareholders as well as internal multi-disciplinary stakeholders.
- Exposure to and understanding of Agile working principles.
- Effective leadership and management including coaching skills.
- Bilingual English-Portuguese speaker mandatory.
