Team overview and job responsibilities

We are looking for a R&D Materials and Laboratory Latam Manager to join our team.

Reporting to the LATAM R&D director, the R&D Materials and Lab Latam Manager will be responsible for driving wire and cable compounds development for supporting key Design to Cost, New Product Development, Plant support, and resolving and Quality issues. She/he shall also participate in a proactive manner in all other interfaces of the material where R&D is not strictly the primary responsible (purchasing, logistics, industrial, etc).

Job responsibilities
- Develop/formulate new compounds and/or modify the existing materials to improve product functionality for Energy and TLC Business;
- Coordination, optimization, and development other materials like tapes, additives, metals and others;
- Lead the DTC (Design To Cost) projects from materials side;
- Drive a new design for sustainability approach according HQ and local projects;
- Carry out technical-industrial feasibility study for materials and compounds;
- Develop the supplier and material specification;
- Scale-up & prototyping: from laboratory trials to big batch production;
- Continuous improvement of existent materials in the regional factories, search + implementation of cost-effective and saving opportunities in all possible products, materials, processes, and methodologies;
- Qualification of new Raw Materials and/or alternatives and direct involvement in the SSRM (Single Source Raw Materials) projects;
- Suppliers: Work together with the regional purchasing team to develop new strategic suppliers following the procurement strategy guidelines (HQ and local). In some case shall participate in supplier audit process;
- Develop Latam Compounds Roadmap. In addition, to actively participate in the Energy & Telecom Product Roadmap deployment together with the rest of the R&D team;
- Manage the complete material lifecycle inside the regional Prysmian factories where the material shall be adequate to existent or new manufacturing processes and technologies as well as to ensure the material provides value as per the regional business strategy (Energy and TLC).
- Material Innovation & Sustainability - Responsible to develop the material innovation long term plan (3Y-5Y) for South America Region the duty is to scout for innovation partners (such as universities, technology centers ), build up the innovation ecosystem for Prysmian BR, the plan must be aligned with the regional business strategy;
- Technical support to the factory in any industrialization phase of the material/compound using the approach of lifecycle management end-to-end with focus on introduction, volume scale-up, stability

and phase-out;
- Technical support to Logistics in new IC flows implementation;
- Technical support to Laboratories: Development of the laboratory testing capabilities South America region;
- Documentation & Reporting: generate all the necessary test reports, material specifications, quality assessments, process documents;

- Bachelor or Master in Science or Engineering in Polymers, Plastic, Materials or Chemistry
- Proven experience in Laboratory and Compound plants;
