Food System Campaign Manager leads the implementation and tactical delivery of World Animal Protection’s global Food System campaigns in Brazil, working with other country offices and across departments to develop inspiring and innovative projects which realize the campaign strategy, manage all project activity, and are the central point of contact for organizational activity relating to the campaign objectives.

Food System Campaign Manager plays a key role in the global campaign team, collaborating across the organization to develop, deliver and communicate strategic initiatives. They are responsible for promoting a culture of campaigning to increase World Animal Protection’s impact, influence and profile, and supporting colleagues to do the same.

Food System Campaign Manager is responsible for contributing to several objectives within the global food system strategy, that connect farmed animal production, animal welfare, public health, environment, climate change, human rights, and other relevant connected issues, and identify activities in the Brazil context that are strategic, impactful, and cohesive. We have offices in 12 countries and work across 47 countries. We collaborate with local communities, the private sector, civil society and governments to change animals’ lives for the better.

Our goal is to change the way the world works to end animal cruelty and suffering for both wild and farmed animals. Through our global food system strategy, we will end factory farming and create a humane and sustainable food system, that puts animals first. By transforming the broken systems that fuel exploitation and commodification, we will give wild animals the right to a wildlife. Our work to protect animals will play a vital role in solving the climate emergency, the public health crisis, and the devastation of natural habitats.

What will you be doing?

Within the scope of the role, you will be responsible for the following:

- Supporting the Brazil campaigns team in ensuring the development and implementation of consistent approaches that contribute to the organisation’s global strategy.
- Managing the local campaign projects or coordinate with relevant key offices for the global campaign work in the portfolio, including all project activity, within budgets.
- Developing and overseeing the project’s budget in liaison with the finance team.
- Taking overall responsibility for the effective and efficient management of delegated budget in accordance with World Animal Protection’s financial procedures and local governance regulations.
- Motivating employees through facilitating engagement and participation towards achieving organisational goals.
- Ensuring staff have the necessary support on their professional and career development to build their capability to achieve their agreed annual objectives;
- Ensuring good people management practices are followed in line with organisational policies and legislation/regulation;

Who are we looking for?

Someone who meets the following criteria:

- Experienced and highly motivated campaigner, with a proven track record of managing multiple projects that deliver desired outcomes.
- Experience in the design and delivery of impactful (preferably global) campaigns that have achieved change, with evidence of strategic goal achievement.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of public affairs, knowledge of policy making and influencing processes.
- Demonstrable advocacy skills and knowledge.
- Experience in the co-creation of campaigns or campaign activities in coalition with partners.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of systems-thinking and systems-based approaches.
- Team player with excellent project management and coordination skills and ability to develop and maintain good working relationships across internal departments and teams.
- Strong communicator, able to constructively engage external and internal stakeholders, to develop and deliver project solutions.
- Experience of creating and managing budgets.
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally from time to time (40%)
