We are building the largest vehicle subscription and financial services platform for commercial drivers and transport operators across Africa. Our proprietary technology is enabling Drivers with no banking history** to access low to zero emission vehicles, insurance, digital wallets and eHailing services on a subscription basis**.
From 2019 to 2020, we scaled from 200 to more than 10,000 drivers and have raised more than $40m to achieve our mission. Our goal is to serve 14 million gig drivers across Africa's $250B mobility industry. In the short term, we are scaling our impact to 100,000 drivers across 10 cities in 3 countries.
**Our Proposal**:
We are looking for someone who will oversee all technical aspects and technological resources of Max to drive organizational growth.
**What you'll be doing**:
**Oversee** all software development plans from ideation to execution.
- Collaborate with the teams and departments to** produce software design and architecture.**:
- D**rive Key Performance Indicators** across all areas of the Engineering function to ensure that all projects are delivered on cost and on time to the highest quality standards.
- **Design strategies** for future development projects based on the company's overall objectives and resources.
- **Provide clear leadership and vision**, inspire and motivate staff to achieve excellence, and mentor them as they develop new skills (code reviews).
- **Maintain, update, refactor and debug** new and existing codes.
- **Develop ideas for new programs, products, or features **by monitoring the industry developments & trends.
- **Coordinate with external stakeholders** for new integrations and tools.
- **Record and report data** to the appropriate parties, such as clients, leadership or
management.
- **Ensure quality control** for all code rollout from the engineering department.
- Work with HR to assess, hire and mentor new developers.
**It can be a perfect match if you meet**:
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other related fields.
- **10+ years of hands-on experience** in backend & frontend **software development** using PHP and MySQL or any other **backend languages**.
- **4+ years** of experience working with** Laravel and/or Lumen or Express or Django and/or Django Rest Framework.**:
- **At least 5 years** in Tech Leadership.
- Good knowledge of CI/CD deployment pipeline.
**It would also be a plus if you...**
- Experience in NodeJS, ReactJS and MongoDB would be an added advantage
