Khan Academy Brazil aims to deliver a world class user experience to learners that is locally relevant with content, programs, and resources for teachers, schools, and districts. Our platform is a supplemental educational digital resource that offers interactive activities based on mastery-based learning for K-12 grades covering Math, Portuguese, and Science, all aligned to BNCC. We serve more than 6 million learners across our websites, apps and youtube channels and our goal is to scale the impact of our platform by focusing on partnerships with public districts in Brazil.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**

Khan Academy Brazil is seeking a mission-driven data scientist to join our growing team. In this role, you'll work closely with our Latam District team to boost product engagement and help improve student learning outcomes. We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical skills with curiosity and a passion for education—and who thrives in cross-functional, collaborative environments. You’ll report to the Latam Managing Director and work within the global Data Insights Group.

**Your key responsibilities**:

- Define and track success metrics for district initiatives through target setting, forecasting, monitoring, and impact analysis
- Conduct deep-dive analyses on teacher and student behavior to generate actionable insights that guide product and program strategies
- Design and evaluate experiments, including A/B tests and causal inference models, to assess the effectiveness of interventions
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering to improve data pipelines (e.g., ETLs), tools, and access to critical datasets
- Support efficacy studies by curating datasets and creating visualizations to measure learning outcomes across district partners
- Prioritize and manage the roadmap for analytics initiatives that inform strategy, resource allocation, and partnerships across the region

**ABOUT YOU**

**You must have these core qualifications**:

- 5+ years of experience in data science or analytics
- Strong background in applied math, statistics, economics, or related technical field with refined problem solving skills
- Proficiency in SQL and comfort manipulating data with Python (preferred) or R
- Solid understanding of statistical methods (e.g., regression, hypothesis testing) and exposure to machine learning techniques
- Strong skills in data visualization, storytelling, and communication
- Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data, identify trends, and generate insights
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail
- High standard of professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive data
- Fluency in Portuguese and English
- Residency in São Paulo (or willingness to relocate) and legal authorization to work in Brazil

**You would be a great fit if you have**:

- Experience building or maintaining BI tools (e.g., dashboards, reporting layers)
- Advanced collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with ability to align across teams without formal authority
- Experience with the end-to-end analytics chain (data modeling, ETL, dashboarding)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and project management tools
- Passion for education equity and social impact in Latin America

**What is nice to have**:

- Experience working with public education organizations, especially involving teachers or districts
- Prior use of Khan Academy in the classroom or other learning platforms
