Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) required in Engineering/Business or other technical field
- 5+ years of experience working in utility/energy industry in a commercial/business development or technical role
- 1+ years of experience developing and delivering Medium Voltage and High Voltage electric infrastructure projects in a planning or project management role
- 1+ years of experience analyzing energy projects and negotiating contracts with utilities and contractors
- 1+ years of experience collaborating with external stakeholders to deliver projects on-time and on-budget

Job summary

Key job responsibilities
- Manage multiple Utilities, EPC and Owner's Engineers to deliver MV and HV power infrastructure on time, on budget and to specifications.
- Develop and execute energy strategies that leverage capital projects (utility grid connections, high voltage substations, energy storage, etc) to reduce long term energy costs.
- Manage capital budgets for electrical infrastructure and energy projects.
- Collaborate with the internal teams and regulated utilities on the implementation and management of energy and projects in a timely and accurate fashion.
- Identify and develop innovative cost savings projects and initiatives related to energy infrastructure and supply. Responsible for completing due diligence on in-market opportunities and developing those opportunities into cost savings for the business.
- Work with utility regulators to develop policies and guidelines that enable broader AWS strategies and objectives.

This role requires some international travel (less than 20%).

About the team
Our team is accountable for the full lifecycle of utility power delivery to existing and future AWS data centers throughout North and South America. We originate and own the end-to-end strategy and execution required to ensure utility power is delivered on-time, on-budget, and according to technical requirements for our entire North American portfolio. We are uniquely positioned and encourage to execute innovative energy solutions that accelerate our sustainability goals, improve power reliability and drive out costs.

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent financial/business/commercial experience
- Experience successfully negotiating utility connection agreement, energy infrastructure contracts, and/or new tariff rates in regulatory environments
- The ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem solving skills
- Experience planning, engineering, developing or constructing substations or other 34.5kV or greater energy infrastructure
- Experience implementing innovative infrastructure and operational strategies within the energy sector, such as energy storage, demand response, fuel cells, etc
- Experience working directly with public utility commissions and other energy regulators
- Strong Bias for Action with an ability to look around corners and deliver results for the business
- Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
- Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
- Fluent in (i) English and (ii) Spanish or Portuguese.
