The ICCT seeks a highly motivated and committed full-time Marine Associate Researcher in our Brazil office to analyze and recommend policies to avoid, reduce, and eliminate greenhouse gases, air pollution, and water pollution from ships and ports. Initial projects will relate to advancing zero-emission fuel uptake and port infrastructure development in Brazil. Additional work will focus on analyses to support domestic policies to reduce emissions from ships.

You Will:

- Modeling greenhouse gas and air pollution emissions from ships and ports.
- Estimating the emissions reduction potentials of policy alternatives.
- Synthesizing technical information into policy-relevant documents and presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences, with a focus on Brazil
- Engaging with external stakeholders including government officials, International Maritime Organization delegates, non-governmental organizations, academics, and industry.
- Other duties as assigned.

You Have:

- A Bachelor's degree (Master’s degree preferred) in engineering, transportation, environment, or related field.
- Excellent quantitative, analytical, and research skills combined with strategic problem-solving, critical thinking, and organizational skills are required.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills in English and Portuguese, plus excellent interpersonal skills.
- Modeling experience (e.g. emissions, air quality, fate and transport, energy use, health impacts of air pollution, etc.) along with the ability to manage and analyze large datasets, especially in Python and R is a plus.
- Superior proficiency with MS Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint.
- An understanding of maritime transportation systems and policy is preferred.
- Experience working with policymakers, NGOs, industry, and other stakeholders is advantageous.

Our Benefits

This full-time position will be based in ICCT's São Paulo office (work regime to be discussed). The gross monthly salary will be BRL 9,570. We offer an excellent benefits package, including health insurance, substantial paid vacation, transportation subsidies, and other benefits.
