DESCRIPTION

The Public Policy Manager for Brazil Public Policy will develop and execute advocacy strategies and initiatives in support of Amazon’s digital policy priorities. The Manager will work closely with other public policy teams, Legal, PR, and the relevant business units to ensure alignment with business priorities and goals.

The Manager will monitor and report relevant legislative and regulatory activity, develop positioning and mitigation/engagement strategies, and coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and key initiatives related to digital policy in concert with business objectives. The Manager will be responsible for leading engagements with trade associations, think tanks, advocacy groups, and other relevant external stakeholders on key digital policy issues.

As appropriate, the Manager will be responsible for facilitating meetings between executives and key stakeholders. The Manager will report to the Senior Manager, Brazil Public Policy.

This position will be based in São Paulo, SP, Brazil.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- At least 8 years of relevant public policy experience, including direct involvement in Brazil’s federal policymaking process and government relations.
- An ability and desire to travel is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Expert understanding of Brazil’s legislative and regulatory policymaking processes.
- Highly effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. You can create factual, relevant and easily understandable talking points and other messaging, and you can persuasively deliver it to relevant audiences. You can make points intelligently, concisely, and in a friendly way.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at the highest corporate, legislative, regulatory agency, and other government levels.
- A self-starter who can take general direction and produce specific results. When the resources are not immediately at-hand, you enjoy reaching out to a wide array of functional groups across an organization to get the information you need.
- Highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity. People in your industry regard you with the strongest professional reputation.
- Ability to understand how technical language in legislative and regulatory proposals could affect corporate operations, identify business implications, and synthesize policy documents for internal customers.
- Prior experience with steep learning curves, and the ability to effectively communicate complex information to a wide variety of audiences.
- Ability to influence, negotiate with, and persuade others.
- Must be flexible and demonstrate strong judgment/decision-making skills and political acumen.
- A post-graduate degree in Law, Public Administration, Social Communication, or Political Science.
