Employee Referral ProgramPosition Summary:Automation Technicians work under the direction of the Automation Supervisor and utilize independent judgment to perform the day-to-day project duties of designing, developing, commissioning and testing control system deliverables used in the fabrication of equipment for pilot and commercial scale biopharmaceutical manufacturing. Primary responsibility involves generating design documents and control system software along with troubleshooting installations during in-house testing and site installations. This position requires a high level of attention to detail along with good troubleshooting abilities.
Responsibilities:Work under the direction of an automation engineer lead. Execute quality management plan in accordance with quality standards. Understand all project requirements and objectives.
Assist in defining automation scope of work and developing required specifications. Assist in the estimation of automation hardware, software and manpower requirements. Coordinate design and software efforts to ensure compliance.
Forecast and communicate status as required. Support design and manufacturing with integration of system controls as requested. Perform instrument setup and calibration as required.
Program PLC, OIT, HMI, DCS controllers and smart instruments as requested. Setup and troubleshoot network/communication protocols such as Ethernet, Profibus, DeviceNet, etc. Assist with control system equipment setup and commissioning.
Assist with Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT). Assist Automation and Electrical engineers in troubleshooting process control issues. Troubleshoot interface of field instruments with control systems at factory and site.
Evaluate and recommend automation upgrades to existing equipment or systems. Support Field Services with respect to automation needs both planned and unscheduled. Maintain organized project and/or software records.
Control project cost. Meet project schedules. Write and/or execute test plans as required.
Provide training to end user(s). Provide technical support to customers, sales and marketing. Execute other tasks as assigned.
Ability to travel when required. Play an active role in identifying and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunities. Requirements:2+ years working with automation systems, instrumentation, networks, various transducers/sensors, transmitters, wiring, panel wiring, troubleshooting, etc.2+ years working with Allen Bradley, DeltaV, and/or Siemens preferred.
Associates Degree in Electrical/Electronics or related discipline or equivalent automation related job experience preferred. Thorough understanding of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), wiring diagrams and instrumentation. Practical understanding of control systems including power regulation, logic controllers (digital and analog
I/O), sensors, wiring best practices, motor controls, etc. Instrument calibration experience. Familiar with Microsoft Office applications.
English language proficiency, both written and oral speaking skills. Bio-Pharm or Pharmaceutical industry experience preferred. Detail oriented with a solid understanding of current programming standards, industry design fundamentals, and related simulation/de-bugging processes.
Loop checking of field instruments with SCADA, PLC or DCS operator interface. Electrical and Instrumentation relevant college courses. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Good organizational skills with the ability to multi-task across functional groups. Must work well both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Limited travel will be required.
International travel possible. Awareness of and prior experience with implementing Continuous Improvement (CI) a plus. Prior Lean/Six Sigma experience a plus.
