Highland Health & Social Care Partnership delivers adult health and social care services to a large and sparsely populated area of Scotland. This remote and rural environment offers some of the most beautiful scenery and exceptional outdoor recreational opportunities. Delivering healthcare across remote and rural communities provides opportunities for new and innovative thinking around future health and care delivery.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced GP to join a team of four part-time Clinical Directors. The sessional requirement for the post will be 5 sessions (20 hours) per week. The postholder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for a dedicated portfolio of work. This will include leading the clinical governance portfolio supporting the community and primary care division. This post would suit an aspiring GP seeking to develop a portfolio career and to influence the development of community services across North Highland.

The postholder will understand and have an interest in the development of local services, and particularly in developing relationships with local GPs. The individual will work in close collaboration with the senior leadership team on a number of exciting service developments around primary care. In particular, the integration of clinical pathways; integrated Health & Social Care teams; community hospitals; the development of Primary Care networks; and resilience and specialist pathways in the community. There is also an important professional leadership role in designing and strengthening clinical governance systems and high-quality medical practice. Opportunities exist to develop a portfolio career and combine this role with GP sessions across various GP practices in the Highlands. These include rural locations such as Tongue, Armadale, Scourie, Kinlochbervie and Durness on the North coast of Sutherland; Wick and Thurso in Caithness; and Alness and Invergordon in Easter Ross (a 30-minute drive north of Inverness).

A full, current driving licence is essential as the roles cover a large geographical area, although much of the work can be done remotely from home.
