Role OverviewThe Email Lifecycle Marketing Manager will own and build the company's CRM and lifecycle email strategy from the ground up. This role goes beyond sending newsletters—you will architect complex, automated user journeys that guide customers from first interaction through activation, retention, and conversion to paid plans. You will act as the voice of the brand in the inbox, combining strategy, technical execution, and creative excellence.
This role requires a hybrid marketer—part lifecycle strategist, part systems thinker, and part creative operator—who can thrive in a fast-paced, product-led growth (PLG) environment. The ideal candidate enjoys cross-functional collaboration, is data-driven, and has a strong creative sensibility.
Your Impact- Drive user activation, engagement, and revenue through automated lifecycle email programs.
- Increase retention and conversion by designing and optimizing end-to-end customer journeys.
- Provide actionable insights from email performance to influence Product and Growth strategy.
- Establish email as a core communication channel that reflects a polished, human, and cohesive brand voice.
- Streamline email marketing processes for efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
Lifecycle Infrastructure & Orchestration – 40%
- Own and manage the ESP and CRM stack, ensuring smooth integration with product data.
- Build and maintain dynamic user segments based on behavioral and usage data.
- Maintain list hygiene and compliance with GDPR, CAN-SPAM, and related regulations.
- Architect end-to-end automated journeys: Welcome, Onboarding, Activation, Nurture, Upsell, and Win-back flows.
Lifecycle Strategy & Optimization – 30%
- Define and execute lifecycle strategy across the full user funnel.
- Identify friction points and design targeted interventions to improve activation and retention.
- Run A/B tests on subject lines, timing, layouts, messaging, and CTAs.
- Monitor key performance metrics and translate results into actionable recommendations for Product and Growth teams.
Campaign Execution & Creative – 30%
- Design, write, and build high-quality, visually compelling emails aligned with brand standards.
- Own newsletters, product updates, feature launches, and community communications.
- Ensure proper rendering across devices and inbox providers.
- Customize and troubleshoot email templates using HTML/CSS as needed.
Must-Haves (Required)
- 3–5+ years of experience in Lifecycle Marketing, CRM, or Email Marketing.
- Proven track record of building automated lifecycle journeys from scratch in PLG SaaS or B2C environments.
- Strong experience with modern ESPs and marketing automation platforms (e.g., , Braze, Iterable, Autopilot).
- Proficiency with data segmentation, triggers, and event-based workflows.
- Strong analytical skills with familiarity in Mixpanel, Amplitude, or Google Analytics.
- Excellent copywriting skills with a human, engaging tone.
- Working knowledge of HTML/CSS for email customization.
- Hands-on experience with generative AI or creative tools.
- Familiarity with Figma, Photoshop, or similar design platforms.
- Experience in early-stage or fast-scaling startup environments.
- Ability to operate independently with minimal existing process.
- Basic SEO knowledge as it applies to email campaigns.
