Position Summary

The Manager R&D functions as the leader of Body Protection (hereafter BP) R&D in Hercules Plant. She/He is responsible for leading and coaching the Hercules BP R&D team to achieve LRP (Long Range Plan) targets in alignment with the Body Protection BU (Business Unit).

She/He will collaborate with Marketing, Operations, and other key functions to ensure clear communication and consistent Best Practice implementation of BP related to product development initiatives. She/He will work on new and novel materials, designs, and assembly techniques to develop products that meet customer needs within the business unit.

In addition, the Manager will manage assigned development and improvement projects to drive value for Ansell internal stakeholders and for our customers. She/He will lead or support new product commercialization and launch efforts including evaluation, development, procurement and start-up of new products and processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES & SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Design and develop new products as per BP BU LRP.

  • Generate new ideas to support NPD (New Product Development) pipeline.

  • Lead the team based on material, design and process pillars to support overall R&D mechanism.

  • Leadership, coaching and mentoring for R&D team to increase skills and grow competencies.

  • Facilitate alignment of R&D team with Body Protection GCM (Global Category Management) team LRP goals to grow BP business through innovative product development

  • Support or collaborate with other R&D teams as per requirement.

  • Research new technologies that allow Ansell to grow our leadership in differentiated NPDs. Seek out potential partnerships to facilitate Ansell access to new technologies both directly and indirectly.

  • Support operations in key strategic process improvement projects to achieve lower cost, higher quality, and productivity.

  • Comply with R&D laboratory safety regulations.

  • Comply with R&D standards and practices/development plans.

  • Develop test procedures based on newly developed product standards and market requirements.

  • Responsible for 5S and EHS of R&D team and area. Share best safety practices with global teams and strive for continuous safety improvements.

  • Any other tasks assigned by the line manager necessary to perform the function.

Education

Bachelor's degree in material science, materials engineering and co-related areas.

Job Experience

  • 5+ years' experience in R&D as manager.
  • 5+ years' experience as people manager.
