Role Overview
As the Engineering Lead for the Core Experience team, you'll guide our core engineering team in building the foundation of our produc. You'll act as a technical leader, coach, and hands-on contributor, helping shape what we build and how we build it. You'll collaborate closely with Product, Design, and company leadership to define, scope, and deliver impactful features that improve the buyer experience and drive TestBox's mission forward.
You'll bring a deep understanding of our core systems, a passion for mentorship, and a bias for action. Whether you're helping an engineer unblock a problem, leading a grooming session, or jumping into the code to push a key feature over the line, you'll be a multiplier for the entire team.
What You'll DoTeam Leadership & Enablement
- Lead and support a small but mighty core engineering team
- Mentor engineers through pairing, thoughtful feedback, and day-to-day guidance
- Create a strong culture of ownership, attention to detail, and continuous learning
- Provide clarity and coaching when team members are stuck or uncertain
Technical Execution
- Get hands-on with the codebase — guiding architecture, reviewing PRs, and contributing directly to key systems
- Own the technical vision for our core systems and ensure implementation quality meets our standards
- Drive a high bar for development, ensuring low rework and high maintainability
- Provides technical leadership in database architecture and strategy, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and alignment with product and business requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Product, Design, and company leadership to prioritize and scope roadmap initiatives
- Participate in high-level planning, bringing technical insight to product discussions
- Lead technical grooming, and shape proposals for new features, capabilities, and tools
Innovation & Strategy
- Identify and introduce new technologies, patterns, and practices to elevate our platform
- Represent the technical voice in strategic conversations around TestBox's direction
- Help define and refine our development processes as we scale
- 6–8 years of experience in software development, ideally across full-stack systems
- 2–3 years of experience as a Tech Lead in a B2B SaaS company or hyper-growth startup
- Strong ability to navigate ambiguity and bring clarity where it's lacking
- Comfortable rolling up your sleeves to ship features and fix bugs alongside your team
- Experience mentoring engineers and fostering growth through collaboration and coaching
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and fast-paced product development environments
- Comfortable with AWS products

- Build closer relationships with team members.
- Begin owning execution of your team's tasks to ensure scalability and overall effectiveness of the code.
- Week 9-12:
- You should now feel more comfortable with the day-to-day and confident in your role at TestBox.
- Continue leading the core team and take an active role in all aspects of the core development experience.
