The Work You'll Do:
As a Regulatory Specialist III at Sovos, you'll be at the forefront of navigating the complex and ever-evolving world of tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions. In this role, you'll combine deep regulatory expertise with cutting-edge technology to help our clients—including half the Fortune 500—stay ahead of compliance requirements in an increasingly digital tax landscape.
You'll serve as a critical bridge between regulatory changes and practical implementation, leveraging AI-enhanced research tools and sophisticated analytics to monitor, interpret, and operationalize tax law changes across our platform. Your expertise will directly impact how over 100,000 customers worldwide manage their compliance obligations, transforming regulatory complexity into strategic advantage.

More specifically, you will:
- Monitor and analyze compliance developments across assigned jurisdictions, proactively identifying tax rate changes, form filing requirements, and regulatory shifts that impact Sovos' product offerings
- Conduct substantive research on complex tax compliance issues, translating intricate regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance for both internal teams and external clients
- Lead cross-functional initiatives with Sales, Marketing, Product Management, and Development teams, serving as the regulatory expert who ensures our solutions remain ahead of compliance requirements
- Partner with Regulatory Counsels and technology teams to ensure timely and accurate implementation of tax law changes into our AI-powered compliance platform
- Research and respond to client inquiries with detailed analysis, providing expert guidance that helps businesses navigate complex multi-jurisdictional compliance challenges
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with tax administrators across the country, positioning Sovos as a trusted partner in the regulatory ecosystem
- Support the Marketing team with tax-centric content creation and webinar participation, sharing your expertise to educate the broader compliance community
- Mentor colleagues through the Regulatory Analysis Department boot camp training program while continuously developing your own expertise through collaboration with senior team members
What We Need From You
- 2-4 years of experience in tax compliance, regulatory analysis, or related field with demonstrated expertise in tax research and analysis
- Thorough understanding of global tax compliance complexities and the ability to explain complex tax rules clearly to both tax professionals and non-technical stakeholders
- Proficiency with research tools and internal systems used to maintain compliance content, with the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and platforms
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to comprehend, concentrate on, and resolve complex regulatory problems while managing multiple priorities
- Excellent communication skills in both Portuguese and English, with the ability to interact effectively with teammates, colleagues, and customers across different cultures and time zones
- Self-motivated with strong accountability for assigned tasks and the ability to drive projects to on-deadline completion
- Growth mindset with eagerness to stretch beyond day-to-day responsibilities and contribute to the continuous improvement of our regulatory analysis capabilities
