The Work You'll Do:

As a Regulatory Specialist II at Sovos, you'll be at the forefront of global tax compliance transformation, providing critical research and analysis that keeps our solutions ahead of rapidly evolving regulatory landscapes. In this role, you'll leverage AI-powered research tools and collaborate with cross-functional teams across time zones to ensure our 100,000+ global customers stay compliant with ever-changing tax laws and requirements.

This position combines deep regulatory expertise with strategic thinking, as you'll represent the Regulatory Analysis Department on initiatives spanning Sales, Marketing, and Development teams. You'll be instrumental in translating complex compliance changes into actionable intelligence that drives our product innovation and client success.

More specifically, you will:

  • Proactively monitor and analyze compliance issues, tax rate changes, and filing requirements across multiple jurisdictions, utilizing AI-enhanced research tools to identify patterns and predict regulatory trends
  • Research and evaluate the impact of compliance changes on Sovos systems, providing timely and accurate intelligence to the Regulatory Content Team for rapid implementation
  • Lead distinct research projects from inception to on-deadline completion, managing monthly content projects while collaborating with global teams across different time zones
  • Partner with Regulatory Counsels to ensure timely system updates and work with technology teams to accurately implement tax law changes into our AI-driven offerings
  • Research, analyze, and provide clear, detailed responses to complex client inquiries about tax rates, compliance, and reporting requirements
  • Support Sales and Marketing teams by creating tax-centric content, participating in webinars, and providing expertise that enhances our market position
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Development teams to define requirements and provide comprehensive tax scenarios for system testing
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with tax administrators globally, serving as a bridge between regulatory bodies and our internal teams
  • Contribute to and participate in the Regulatory Analysis Department boot camp training program, sharing knowledge and developing junior team members

What We Need From You

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Tax, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience in tax compliance, regulatory analysis, or related field
  • Demonstrated understanding of global tax compliance complexities and proficiency in tax research techniques and analysis
  • Strong ability to explain complex tax rules in clear, accessible language for both tax professionals and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience with or aptitude for learning AI-powered research tools and regulatory technology platforms
  • Excellent project management skills with proven ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional, international teams
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently while actively seeking opportunities to expand beyond day-to-day responsibilities
  • Proficiency in technology tools and applications, with enthusiasm for adopting new AI-driven solutions
