As a Field Service Electrical Engineer, you will play a vital role in creating products that fulfil both business and technical needs of our customers. You'll oversee the installation/commissioning/startup and various level maintenance/trouble-shooting of our products. You'll use your knowledge and skills to deliver innovative solutions for our customers.

As a Field Service Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Commission HV Generators, Motors, Synchronous condensers, Power management systems (PMS), Electrical protection systems, Excitation Controllers (AVRs), and Synchronising equipment.
  • Ideally have knowledge of networking systems. Such as, Modbus, Ethernet, 61850, Fibre.
  • Perform role applying company health and safety procedures applicable to the job site. Typical examples are HV safety, lock out tag out, permit to work systems and risk and method statements.
  • Conduct upgrades to AVRS, PMS systems, Synchronisers, Protection relays and other control elements.
  • Carry out electrical testing on high and low voltage equipment and machine windings in the field. Examples may include Polarisation Index, Insulation resistance, and Ductor tests.
  • Must be prepared to practice some degree of project management at site.
  • Deliver training on Brush Power Gen products to clients and field service colleagues.
  • Interpret technical drawings, specifications and technical requirements. Attend technical meetings on site and at customers' premises.
  • Prepare method statements and risk assessments in relation to client sites where needed.
  • Assist mechanical service engineer(s) on assignments, which will not necessarily involve electrical related activities.

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Ideally hold a graduate degree or bachelors degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
  • Alternatively completed a recognized craft apprenticeship in electrical engineering and be able to demonstrate significant experience gained working in the field. Must hold a technical qualification in an electrical or electronic discipline.
  • Experience of working on competitors equipment would be advantageous.
  • High level knowledge of electrical power generation and distribution systems.
  • Self reliant, resourceful and a problem solver with well developed commercial awareness
  • An effective communicator, fluent in both spoken and written English and Portuguese.
  • Able to undertake extensive overseas and offshore working.
  • Experienced in representing the Company at customers' sites and operating remotely on own initiative whilst observing the requirements set down in the Company's Code of Conduct for Service/Commissioning Engineers.
  • Able to work with Company's rules and guidance notes on health and safety, including operation of safe systems of work in relation to high voltage and medium voltage electrical systems and work in a heavy industrial environment.
  • This is a challenging and important role requiring a high degree of technical competence with a corresponding level of self-sufficiency and resourcefulness, as global time differences often mean that factory support is not immediately available. The nature of the work calls for strength of character and physical fitness. Differing assignments may require working alone or as a member of a team.
  • Clear understanding of cultural differences and has the diplomacy to cope with all aspects of the role.
