The IP Network Engineer is a technical position responsible for the designing, implementing, monitoring and maintenance of the IP Network infrastructure at Seaborn Networks.

The IP Network Engineer supports the Tier 1 NOC in responding to and resolving higher level Network issues. They are the primary resource for the provisioning, turn-up and testing of new customer services. They support Engineering in Network Upgrades and Capacity Management. They will also aim to maintain network availability, plan capacity upgrades for core, peering and translit links and provide operational support to the Seaborn field teams and technical support to customers and customer facing teams within Seaborn.

Responsibilities

·      Configure and troubleshoot Juniper routers, Juniper switches and other network hardware.

·      Monitor and analyze network performance and identify/resolve network issues.

·      Work with hardware, network vendors and peers to ensure the highest level of service.

·      Assist with system upgrades and maintenance.

·      Maintain accuracy of network inventory/Single Source of Truth

·      Troubleshoot network problems including off hours and weekend support

·      Solid understanding of IP subnetting

·      Familiarity with and ability to automate common network tasks

·      Forecast network capacity requirements and plan network augmentations in a timely manner

·      Create and maintain technical documentation.

· Create and maintain network diagrams and other system documentation

Requirements

·      Bilingual English/Portuguese

· years of work experience as a IP Engineer in a Carrier Network or ISP environment.

·      Advanced knowledge of networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, Ethernet, MPLS, BGP, OSPF and IS-IS.

·      Strong analytical and fault finding skills with the ability to prioritize Network and Customer troubles, making recommendations on how to restore service to customers and to eliminate repeat problems.

·      Good communication skills to include verbal and written communication and presentation skills in a technical environment.

·      Understanding of Service Level Agreements and objectives.

·      Good understanding of the documentation of technical methods and procedures.

·      Excellent ability to capture and document in a user friendly way event driven reports and diagnosis for both Customers and Seaborn Management.
