You will report to our Head of Business Systems & Data, and join the Data & Business Systems team. On TheOrg you can view the complete structure of our organisation, including information about every team member, hiring managers and the size of each department.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for a Data Engineering Analyst to join our Data & Business Systems team on a temporary assignment. This role will be responsible for maintaining, improving, and scaling our AWS-based data infrastructure, ensuring that all data pipelines, datasets, and reporting layers are reliable, secure, and well-documented. You'll collaborate with our Data Analysts, Business Systems, Product, and Finance teams to structure and prepare data for analysis, design new views and datasets, and ensure that our Data Lake and Data Warehouse reflect accurate, consistent, and timely information.

Mandatory Hard Skills

  • Experience with AWS data tools, especially S3, Glue, Athena, Lambda, and Redshift (or similar).
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation and transformation.
  • Knowledge of data modeling concepts (star schema, dimensions, fact tables).
  • Understanding of ETL orchestration.
  • Familiarity with data backup, lifecycle management, and access control practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Previous experience in data engineering, data operations, or analytics engineering roles.

Desirable Hard Skills

  • Experience with BI platforms (e.g., Zoho Analytics, Power BI, Tableau, Metabase).
  • Familiarity with version control (Git) and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Understanding of data governance and compliance frameworks (SOC2, ISO).
  • Experience with data cataloging and documentation best practices.

What You'll Do

  • Design, maintain, and optimize ETL pipelines using AWS services (S3, Glue, Athena, Lambda, Redshift, etc.).
  • Structure and organize our Data Lake and Data Warehouse, ensuring performance, scalability, and naming consistency.
  • Create and manage analytical datasets and views to support reporting, dashboards, and advanced analysis.
  • Implement and monitor data quality and backup routines, ensuring data reliability and security.
  • Collaborate with analysts and business users to translate data needs into structured, query-efficient datasets.
  • Propose and apply data architecture improvements, including partitioning, schema optimization, and lifecycle management.
  • Document data flows, transformations, and models as part of our Data Governance initiative.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot ETL pipelines, ensuring smooth daily operations and timely data availability.
