The Project Manager has the responsibility to ensure customer satisfaction by delivering projects as per contracts scope of work, on schedule, with quality and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the day-to-day management and coordination of projects by ensuring, projects' deliverables as scope, bidding process, schedule, performance guarantees and budget are met, in accordance with the Project Model.
  • Act as the single point of contact to the customer from Sales handover meeting to TOC signature.
  • Ensure clear communication of project status, progress, changes, potential risks, issues and alternate solutions on a timely basis.
  • Once an order has been received, coordinate with the sales manager and sales engineer, the project's information handover, ensuring all necessary information is available for the project development and execution.
  • Define projects' objectives, scope of work, deliverables, performance guarantees and ensure they are known & agreed with internal stakeholders and aligned with customer needs and expectations.
  • Develop a detailed project schedule, including milestones and deadlines. Monitor progress and adjust timelines as needed to ensure timely completion.
  • Manage the project budget in line with the target Sales gross margin, including cost estimation, tracking, monitoring and reporting progress and estimated final gross margin. Ensure expenditures are aligned with budget constraints.
  • Manage communications and ensure the right information is distributed to the right stakeholders at proper time (clarifications, progress, etc.).
  • Ensure required changes to the original quote (cost, schedule & scope) are approved by the customer prior to manufacturing and the change order process is followed and fully complied.
  • Plan and coordinate across business units or entities, FMT stakeholders, as well as with major external contractors and vendors
  • Ensure the project deliverables (hardware and software) are met in accordance with internal and external deadlines and/or commitments made.
  • Monitor projects' financials with operations & conduct financials follow ups & risk analysis with internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare projects monthly progress meetings, risk mitigation plans, financials reports and update internal stakeholders and management.
  • Resolve project issues through innovative solutions that will meet customer needs. 
  • Plan and coordinate FAT/SAT and approve changes if required.
  • Work with the Installation team to plan and manage the installation, start-up and commissioning, ensuring all participants are trained, informed and fully comply with health & safety policies and regulations.
  • Obtain clients' acceptance certificate signature after projects performance guarantees are met and coordinate the After Sales handover meeting is held at the customers' job site with attendance of the SESO department and the customer project team. 
  • Request and approve start-up and warranty activities.
  • Prior project closure, ensure all contractual obligations are met and that the customer is satisfied with the project completion final
  • Facilitate projects' financial close out.
  • Coordinate lessons learned or postmortem meeting to share projects findings during its execution. Develop The Lessons Learned report and ensure it is distributed among the company departments with the aim of continuous improvement.
  • Provide mentoring on project management and organization dynamics when applicable with new project managers hired by the company.

Knowledge & skills required

  • Knowledge of an integrated management system (Microsoft Dynamics AX an asset)
  • Project accounting skills.
  • Knowledge of 2D and 3D software (Autocad and Inventor an asset)
  • Be able to make Gantt charts and identify critical paths.
  • Master the office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint)
  • Ability to simultaneously drive and manage several projects of various type.
  • Basic mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical knowledge.
  • Advanced written and spoken English skills.
  • Portuguese skills considered an asset.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification an asset.
  • Good knowledge of sanitary and safety standards in food processing or pharma facilities.

Training & Experience

  • Hold a BAC in engineering combined with several years of experience or any other combination of relevant training and experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience in customer service.
