Scope of the role:
the position should be able to manage all legal matters in Brazil for the Innovative Medicine Business. He/she should be based in São Paulo, Brazil, and will be responsible for providing strategic legal advice with a generalist profile, being able to handle different areas (civil, labor, tax, antitrust, IP, criminal, etc.) to further the interests of the business globally, while protecting the company's rights, interests and reputation.

Main Responsibilities

• Support and advise on complex legal matters for Innovative Medicine Business, partnering with business and functional clients, and with outside counsel, and supporting business opportunities while ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, industry guidelines and internal policies.
• Provide legal support to the therapeutical areas and Clinical Research team and functional areas, on projects and initiatives that are deployed by or for the IM Business, including preparing, reviewing negotiating and implementing complex and innovative commercial agreements, as well as agreements related to partnerships, sponsorships and speakers.
• Providing strategic legal advice on a wide range of proposed business initiatives and projects in different areas such as sales and marketing, tenders, regulatory affairs, consumer law, ethics and compliance, privacy, among others.
• Manage certain outside counsel relationships. To the extent that complex problems or specific technical expertise is required, direct the work of outside counsel, define project objectives, and manage projects.
• Serve on projects with multi-disciplinary teams and committees to assess and implement special/significant projects in the local business and/or J&J Global and LATAM Law Department.
• Monitor changes and trends in the pharma business , including competitive developments and government actions, to identify opportunities;
• Provide appropriate training to local teams and external stakeholders on key legal topics, such as essentials of civil law, advertising self-regulation, contract law, competition law, anti-corruption laws, public tenders and ethics and compliance, the latter in collaboration with our Health Care Compliance and Privacy organizations
• Support internal audits and investigations by providing documents and explanations related to audit requests, reviewing findings and developing action plans to address any issues.
• Review and provide legal advice on SOPs and Corporate Policies, marketing materials, including label, and internal communications.
• Create and improve templates and processes.
• Lead Administrative, Civil, Criminal and Environmental Litigation among other proceedings.
• Participate in the litigation process, by providing documents and information to the cross-sector team, participating in the definition of the case strategy, Identifying and advocating for dispute resolution opportunities to defend the company's interests; and performing managerial review of the litigation portfolio and identify how to prevent future risks;
• Monitoring and Management of Department Budget (negotiation of legal fees with Legal Operations);

Qualifications

• Comprehensive experience as a business attorney for a commercial operating company, or comparable business/legal experience or robust experience in private practice in the industry. Experience on Pharma Industry is a plus.
• Good understanding of the healthcare markets, including, legal, compliance, tenders, regulatory, marketing, IP and M&A.
• Proven ability to provide outstanding legal services to, and interact with, a range of senior executives and authorities.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership and teamwork skills, and an excellent track record of collaboration with colleagues.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a matrixed organizational structure
• Ability to work independently.
• Strong drive for results and a strong sense of ownership/ accountability.
• Business oriented with an ability to proactively engage with business colleagues to find practical solutions and partner with them to implement desired action plans and contribute to compliant growth for the business.

Academic Background

• Professional degree: Graduation in Law with OAB (required)
• master's in law (Plus)

Languages
Fluent in English - Spanish is a plus

Experience
At least 7 years of relevant experience, being part of, desirably, the healthcare segments or other regulated market business.
