Mid AI/ML Engineer

The AI/ML Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and deploying artificial intelligence solutions tailored to solve real business problems.

As an "AI Engineer", the goal is to find the adequate solution for the problem, which can range from simple sets of rules such as specialized systems to complex deep learning models, computer vision, LLMs or optimization algorithms. Sometimes, the best solution will be ML-driven. Other times, it might just be something simpler.

A scientific level of rigor is expected, with thorough documentation and reproducible experiments that evidence the effectiveness of each solution. It is also expected to stay updated with AI advancements and effectively gather and incorporate domain expertise into AI development.

Solutions are expected to be developed end-to-end, from the experimentation to the deployment, meeting software engineering high standards. An engineer also knows when to apply an existing solution instead of developing a new one, accelerating value delivery.

The AI Engineer is, above all, a skillful problem-solver, and a core piece of all products developed by Shape Digital.

Responsabilities:

• Explore and analyze data to scope potential AI-powered solutions for asset monitoring or process optimization.
• Statistically understand and describe physical phenomena.
• Build reports and visualizations to effectively communicate technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Develop and deploy machine learning models for predictive maintenance monitoring.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams to understand equipment behavior and translate domain knowledge into effective AI solutions.
• Write high-quality, scalable and maintainable code while following best engineering practices.
• Monitor and ensure the quality of previously deployed AI-powered solutions.
• Document experiments, solutions, and learnings to ensure reproducibility and knowledge sharing across the team.

Requiriments:

• Science: Prior experience with data analysis, signal processing, and/or time series analysis in an academic or professional setting. Familiarity with scientific methods and research principles.
• Math and statistics: Experience applying probability theory, descriptive and inferential statistics, and linear algebra fundamentals to support data analysis and model development.
• ML techniques: Applied experience with the most common machine learning libraries (XGBoost, Tensorflow, Pytorch) and model development techniques (e.g., train/test split, cross validation, hyperparameter optimization), as well as evaluation metrics (e.g., accuracy, precision, recall, AUC, MAPE, RMSE, etc.).
• Software: Good knowledge of software engineering and best coding practices (e.g., SOLID principles, git, clean code, unit tests) applied to AI solutions development.
• Code: Ability to write modern, clean, maintainable and scalable code in Python.
• Cloud Solutions and AI infrastructure: Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and AI pipelines in production environments.
