What You'll Do
Epic Games is looking for a Senior Cinematic FX Artist who is highly motivated to join our cinematic team and play a vital role in transforming in-game FX into a cinematic quality in Unreal Engine. A successful candidate will be equipped to create real-time VFX content using Niagara Materials and explore various techniques and solutions in our cinematics. Use your artistic eye and creativity to push boundaries while collaborating with our internal in-game team and outsourcing partners with FX tasks.

In this role, you will

• Execute outstanding effects for our games by bringing dramatic effects to life
• Create all art needed for the visual effects, including FX concept, proto, and final FX
• Supply creative solutions given a set of technical constraints
• Provide technical solutions that have a broader impact across the group
• Working on Epic's cinematic team to design various real-time FX in Unreal Engine for use in cinematic shots

What We're Looking For

• Good understanding of Unreal Engine or at least a passion for learning Unreal and Niagara
• An understanding of how to adapt/upgrade/translate game FX into their cinematic or movie version by identifying and retaining key shapes and concepts while plussing the fidelity
• Strong Houdini knowledge (running fluid simulations, proceduralism, mesh generation)
• An interest in and understanding of scripting/programming
• A good understanding/experience in proceduralism, including shaders
• A critical eye for the timing, animation, and motion of real-world objects and visual FX with an ability to bring dramatic FX to life with flair
