A Day in the Life
We are seeking a Trade Operations Manager to lead strategic trade operations and compliance initiatives, overseeing import and export activities across Brazil. This role plays a key part in ensuring alignment with company policies and local trade regulations through effective cross-functional collaboration. This a hybrid role based in São Paulo, SP, Brazil.

Responsibilities
may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Serve as an import/export liaison for international customers, distribution, procurement, planning, manufacturing, intercompany finance, regulatory and import/export compliance functions, including coordination with Brazilian regulatory bodies such as ANVISA and Port Authority
  • Oversee a variety of import/export duties including oversight of brokerage and international transportation service providers, data and documentation gathering necessary to facilitate shipments between international locations
  • Manage Brazilian customs brokers, creating a strategic vision for process, systems, and organizational structure to maximise efficiencies and minimise compliance risk, managing international freight providers' performance, in all aspects of their service
  • Lead, develop, and support a collaborative, high-performing team of four Import Trade Operations professionals, along with a team of contingent workers
  • Develop strategic plans to achieve Trade Operations goals and initiatives by researching, analysing and interpreting Brazilian trade regulations and their impact on Medtronic, and improving trade operational procedures, with a focus on the DUIMP (Declaração Única de Importação) and NPI (Novo Processo de Importação)
  • Conduct data analysis to report department import operational metrics, being responsible for timely and accurate responses to the government such as customs, ANVISA, and INFRAERO

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor's and an MBA or equivalent postgraduate degree
  • Fluent in English (CV must be submitted in English); Spanish proficiency is a plus
  • In-depth knowledge of Brazilian customs regulations and key agencies such as ANVISA, INFRAERO, and Port Authorities, with a solid understanding of DUIMP and NPI requirements
  • Team leadership and talent management experience
  • A valid driver's license (Category B)
