Job Description
Background:
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
The UN Women Regional Office for the Americas and the Caribbean is one of the six regional offices of UN Women, responsible for implementing regional programs, projects, and activities, promoting technical and coordination support to the Country Offices of the region, as well as to serve as a liaison between them and the Headquarters Office.
The work of UN Women's Ending Violence against Women (EVAW) Section is focused on a comprehensive approach to ending violence against women that addresses legislation and policies, prevention, services for survivors, research and data, creating safe public spaces in different settings and strengthening women's rights movements to end violence against women. The Generation Equality Action Coalition on GBV has galvanized governments, CSOs, international organizations, philanthropies and the private sector to deliver transformational progress towards the elimination and prevention of GBV through four concrete actions: (1) Creating enabling policy, legal and resource environments; (2) Scaling up evidence driven prevention programming; (3) Scaling up comprehensive, accessible and quality services for survivors; and (4) Enabling and empowering autonomous girl-led & women's rights organizations to exercise their expertise. In this context UN Women is partnering with the EU and the UN Trust Fund to implement a new programme called ACT to End Violence against Women, which aims to strengthen coalition building and advocacy to end gender-based violence against women and girls.
Reporting to the Regional Programme Coordinator, the Programme Associate will provide programmatic, administrative, and financial support to the ACT Programme, to ensure the development and implementation of projects. The Programme Associate contributes to the financial management, and programme implementation including providing necessary operational, administrative, and programmatic support. The Programme Associate will also support the Regional Coordinator with partner and stakeholder management, logistical support in coordinating events, convenings, advocacy spaces and support to CSO's/WRO's and partners with partner agreements, monitoring and reporting as necessary.
Scope of work :
- Provide administrative and logistical support to the implementation of the Programme ACT to End Violence against Women:
- Provide administrative and financial support in the implementation of programme´s activities, such as managing partner agreements and small grants agreements, and including engaging directly with implementing partners and beneficiaries
- Prepare information for the audit of projects and support implementation of audit recommendations
- Support the review, coordination and monitor the submission of implementing partner and beneficiaries financial and narrative reports
- Provide administrative support to the organization of events of the Programme ACT to End Violence against Women :
- Undertake logistical, administrative and financial arrangements for organization for meetings, workshops, events, and missions
- Make travel arrangements for the Programme Team and external parties, including travel requisitions and claims
- Provide finance support to the Programme and Operations team:
- Prepare PO and non-PO vouchers/invoices for projects.
- Monitor monthly over-expenditure of budgets and follow up with Budget Owner.
- Monitor regularly transactions posted to projects ensuring actual expenditure has been recorded against correct budget category and activity, take timely corrective actions as required.
- Monitor proper follow up of advances to implementing partners, review their financial reports together with project managers.
- Monitor and proper follow up of all the financial items in Month-end and Year-end closure instructions status and under the guidance of the Operations Manager, take corrective actions as required.
- The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

- Prior experience of supporting an EU funded programme is an asset.
Languages :
- Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
- Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
