Data Lead (with Data Steward Capabilities)

Location: Alphaville, São Paulo (Hybrid work model:
2 days per week onsite

Position Summary

We are seeking a
Data Lead
with strong technical expertise and proven experience in team leadership. This role combines strategic data management with hands-on governance and quality practices. The ideal candidate will be data-driven, capable of applying Data Science to solve analytical and technical challenges, and will play a key role in building a data-driven culture across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead data squads, ensuring technical and strategic alignment with business areas.
  • Define and implement data governance, quality, and architecture strategies.
  • Build and maintain data governance and quality processes.
  • Ensure data resources meet business needs while maintaining high standards of data quality and metadata management.
  • Generate studies, insights, and KPIs to monitor data accuracy and support business strategies.
  • Conduct alignment meetings, feedback sessions, and individual development plans (IDPs) with team members.
  • Act as the technical focal point in data projects, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
  • Promote best practices in data engineering, including pipelines, orchestration, and automation.
  • Support integration between product, engineering, and internal stakeholders.

Technical Requirements

  • Strong experience with SQL, Python, data modeling, and ETL/ELT tools.
  • Knowledge of Cloud Data Platforms (preferably GCP, Azure, or AWS).
  • Familiarity with conceptual and physical data modeling.
  • Experience with tools such as Databricks, Spark, Hadoop, and Airflow.
  • Proficiency in data quality and data cataloging tools.
  • Knowledge of data integration methodologies (ETL/ELT).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).

Leadership Requirements

  • Previous experience as a technical leader or manager of data teams.
  • Ability to conduct 1:1 meetings, performance reviews, and feedback sessions.
  • Capability to inspire, develop, and engage talent.
  • Clear and empathetic communication across all organizational levels.
  • Strategic vision and results-oriented mindset.

Education and Languages

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related fields.
  • Advanced English required (fluency necessary for global stakeholder communication).
