Job Description
Position Summary
The Proposal Consultant acts as a commercial and technical resource for Rockwell Automation technologies, products, services, and solutions within their area(s) of expertise. This role is responsible for articulating value, providing estimations, and positioning the benefits of the portfolio to customers. Key responsibilities include delivering and managing commercial offers, presales support, costing, and approvals. The Proposal Consultant oversees all bid activities for a specific range of products, services, and/or solutions within a defined geography and leads standardization efforts for proposals, tools, and processes. Additionally, they demonstrate the ability to expand the scope of services requested by incorporating the full Rockwell Automation portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Commercial Team and Rockwell Automation Distributors to understand customer application needs and define conceptual designs for solutions.
  • Prepare technical and commercial quotations that meet customer requirements while ensuring compliance with internal policies, financial goals, and expectations.
  • Adhere to pre-defined SLAs.
  • Utilize global/regional/local estimating tools and resources effectively.
  • Share insights with local and regional teams.
  • Provide regular feedback on activity status to Sales Team, Business Unit Leadership, and Proposal Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with the Quality Management System.
  • Expand the scope of offerings by incorporating the full Rockwell Automation portfolio.
  • Understand business models, organizational structure, and go-to-market strategies; leverage these where appropriate.
  • Apply familiarity with outcome-based selling.

Key Performance Metrics

  • Support business growth objectives (Frontlog generation, order and sales targets).
  • Ensure proposals comply with internal approval processes, policies, customer expectations, and quality standards.
  • Deliver accurate and professional proposals, maintaining on-time delivery, win rate, and hit rate.
  • Proactively close skill gaps and continuously develop technical capabilities while staying updated on products and portfolio.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical, Electronic, or Automation.
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience as an estimator, proposal engineer, or in services contract/project solutions/application engineering roles.
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as Power Automate and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of database engines, flow programming, and form development in network environments.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in challenging environments with internal and external customers.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Advanced English proficiency.
  • Solid understanding of proposal processes.
