About GrowthX AI

At GrowthX, we've redefined what AI-powered growth means for modern marketing teams. Since launching in 2024, we've grown from concept to eight-figure annual revenue. To date, we've raised a $12M Series A led by Madrona Venture Group and we partner with 50+ companies ranging from high-growth startups to industry leaders like Surge AI, Loveable, Webflow, Ramp, Superhuman, Strapi, Abnormal Security, and Homebase.

We've built something different—what we call "service-as-software." Instead of handing you tools and leaving you to figure them out, we deliver complete outcomes. Our platform combines sophisticated AI workflows with expert human oversight to create, distribute, and optimize content that drives real business results.

Our philosophy is simple: AI should serve experts, not replace them. We're not just building software. We're building the growth infrastructure that marketing teams wish they'd always had.

We're seeking an Editorial Director to build and scale our editorial function within the Delivery Organization. You'll be responsible for hiring, training, and developing Managing Editors who operate within pod structures alongside Account Managers to deliver exceptional AI-powered content at scale.

This is a strategic role focused primarily on talent development and editorial excellence. You'll establish the editorial standards, training programs, and quality frameworks that ensure our content consistently exceeds what unassisted LLMs can produce, while building the team that will scale our content operations from dozens to hundreds of clients.

For this role, we ask that you're available Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM PST.

What You'll Do

Build and scale the editorial team:

  • Hire, onboard, and train ~30 Managing Editors across our Client Delivery Organization

  • Develop comprehensive training programs for new Managing Editors on AI workflows, editorial standards, and quality processes

  • Create hiring rubrics, interview processes, and assessment criteria to identify top editorial talent

  • Build ongoing training modules to continuously upskill Managing Editors on new AI tooling capabilities and workflow improvements

  • Partner with Account Managers to ensure Managing Editors are effectively integrated into pod structures

Establish editorial excellence standards:

  • Update and maintain the editorial standards that differentiate GrowthX work product from generic AI output

  • Create and update quality rubrics, style guides, and voice frameworks that Managing Editors can consistently apply

  • Develop feedback loops between content performance and editorial training

  • Ensure all content meets or exceeds client quality expectations

  • Champion editorial judgment as a core competency across the organization

Shape AI-powered content systems:

  • Write and refine prompts and context documents that improve AI output quality

  • Identify patterns across the organization to develop reusable workflow components

  • Partner with technical teams to implement systematic improvements to content pipelines

  • Document best practices for prompt engineering and context optimization

How You'll Work

This role operates within an organization where Managing Editors are embedded in pods alongside Account Managers. While you're responsible for their hiring, training, and professional development, Managing Editors' day-to-day work is coordinated within their pod structures. This requires:

  • Collaborative leadership: Working closely with Account Managers to ensure Managing Editors succeed within pods

  • Indirect influence: Driving quality and standards through training and frameworks rather than direct oversight

  • Systems thinking: Creating scalable solutions that work across diverse pod configurations

  • Communication excellence: Aligning multiple stakeholders around editorial standards and practices

What Success Looks Like
  • You've successfully hired and trained high-performing Managing Editors

  • Managing Editors report high confidence in their ability to execute AI workflows and maintain quality standards

  • Editorial training programs reduce time-to-productivity for new hires

  • Quality scores remain consistent across all Managing Editors regardless of tenure

  • Pod structures run smoothly with clear collaboration between Managing Editors and Account managers

  • Content revision time decreases quarter-over-quarter across the organization

  • Your training programs become the standard for how GrowthX onboards all content-related roles

  • Cross-functional partners view Editorial as a strategic talent pipeline, not a bottleneck

What We're Looking For

Required Experience:

  • Experience in a high-volume, high-output content organization.

  • 5+ years of editorial experience, with 3+ years building and training editorial teams

  • Demonstrated ability to create and deliver effective training programs at scale

  • Background in digital content, marketing, or media with measurable quality improvements

Technical & AI Skills:

  • Must have: Direct experience writing prompts and creating context documents for LLMs (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.)

  • Experience identifying patterns in AI outputs and systematically improving them

  • Understanding of SEO, content strategy, and digital marketing principles

Editorial Excellence:

  • Exceptional editorial judgment across multiple content types and industries

  • Ability to teach others what makes content effective and how to improve it

  • Experience establishing editorial standards that others can successfully execute

Nice to Have
  • Experience configuring and optimizing AI workflows in production environments

  • Background at a content agency, media company, or high-volume content organization

  • Experience with workflow automation tools (Zapier, Make, Airtable)

  • Experience with performance content, growth marketing, or conversion optimization

  • Data analysis skills (SQL, analytics tools) for performance insights

What This Role Isn't

This isn't a traditional management role with direct reports in a hierarchical structure - you're operating in a matrix organization where Managing Editors work within pods led by Account Managers.

This isn't a client-facing role - you'll have no direct client interaction. This isn't about managing individual content pieces or accounts - you're building the talent and systems that enable others to execute.

You're not just hiring people and walking away - you're deeply invested in their ongoing development and success. You're not maintaining status quo - you're constantly evolving training programs based on new AI capabilities and organizational needs.

Most importantly, you're not building a traditional editorial team - you're creating a new kind of AI-native editors who can leverage technology to produce exceptional content at unprecedented scale.

Perks:

Fully Remote Work

  • Work from anywhere—your productivity, your space

  • We help set up your work environment to enable your best work.

  • Minimal meetings and async communication for deep focus

Ample Time Off

  • Enablement for you to recognize your countries holidays

  • We encourage you to take the time you need to recharge

Professional Growth

  • We're an AI forward culture and work environment - Learn all things AI

  • Access to training, workshops & mentorship programs

  • Support for external conferences & industry events

Collaborative Culture

  • Open communication & feedback-driven environment.

  • Clear, concise communication is key to our success.

Work Visa: Applicants must have legal authorization to work in the country of residence. We are not able to provide employment visa sponsorship at this time.
