We are looking for a Demand Planner to join our team and help us optimize the delivery of chemicals to our offshore business in Latin America. You will be located in Rio de Janeiro, RJ - Brazil and will lead and own the demand planning process driving the interaction among Marketing, Sales and Supply Chain.  As the owner of the demand planning process, this role is accountable for the effectiveness and efficiency of this process measured by forecast accuracy and bias.

What You Will Do

The Demand Planner will be responsible for developing 18 to 24-month sales volume forecasts using statistical modeling supported by sales and marketing assumptions which includes market intelligence, customer insights, new product introductions, swaps, and discontinuations. This role will also lead Root Cause Analysis causing forecast errors and highlights key drivers and improvement opportunities.  The role is focused on our offshore business.

This role will be responsible for organizing and facilitating demand alignment meetings among cross-functional team members to understand and take into account assumptions that create consensus demand plan without losing line of sight to the unconstrained demand forecast. 

On a day-to-day basis, this role will maintain forecasts at Demand Forecast Unit (DFU) level within Blue Yonder, validate historical data and manage data outlier, and correct errors of the tail DFUs to ensure accuracy of the forecasting model.  This role will support data analysis and report requirements of the team in the light of highlighting data integrity improvement opportunities.  The role will collaborate closely with the Regional Demand Planners in acquiring commercial insights and translating it to volumetric forecast increase and decrease into Blue Yonder Demand Workbench in developing a Consensus Demand Forecast.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Improves forecast accuracy by driving demand review process and cadence.  Balances the use of statistical models and assumptions to ensure the most realistic demand forecast.
  • Collaborates with Sales and Marketing to incorporate current and long–term market intelligence into the demand plan at product, customer and market levels and to develop, document and update the assumptions supporting the demand plan.   
  • Support the demand collaboration process by running analysis throughout the month to identify items selling high or low to forecast and providing to demand planner.
  • Evaluate performance of statistical and consensus forecast for identification of opportunities including, but not limited to, high error, missing/unplanned item forecast, and high bias.
  • Utilizes exception management and root cause analysis to identify forecast deviations and issues for correction by collaborators. 
  • Monitors the demand plan performance (forecast error, accuracy, bias) by measuring actual versus planned performance at multiple planning levels.   Prepare performance metrics and distribute to collaborators as feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Develops a demand-based revenue plan by business unit for comparison against annual business plans and financial forecast updates.  Challenge the sales and marketing assumptions when significant deviations occur between the demand-based revenue plan and the business plans.
  • Develops unconstrained demand plan for Capacity Requirements Planning supported with business assumptions as required by the IBP (Integrated Business Planning) process and/or CAPEX plan
  • Represents Demand Planning in the S&OP/IBP process and meetings.  Conducts adhoc analysis as required by the Supply Chain Leadership Team.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Professional Experience: Have at least 5 years of experience demand planning, S&OP, or Master Planning. Experience working in the offshore market is critical for role.
  • Education: A bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations, or business administration. A master's degree or relevant certifications (like APICS CPIM or CSCP) is preferred.  At least have interest and motivated to avail of company sponsored APICS or IBF certifications.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis, statistical modeling, and data-driven decision-making is essential for optimizing inventory levels.
  • Communication: Effective communication skills are necessary to collaborate with various teams, negotiate with suppliers, and present complex ideas to stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: The ability to identify challenges, develop solutions, and implement strategies to resolve inventory-related issues is crucial.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with JDA/Blue Yonder, SAP, and other inventory analysis tools are required. PowerBI and Phyton knowledge is a plus.
  • Organizational Savvy: Strong ability to understand the unwritten ins and outs of an organization.  Balances different views and interests of the members of the organization when developing solutions.
  • Language: English and Spanish are required besides Portuguese.
