OverviewArea Manager, Outbound, Night Shift, Fulfillment Center – AmazonWe are looking for a dynamic, results-oriented Area Manager to lead Outbound operations (collection, packaging, and shipping) in our distribution center.
This role directly manages 50-100 associates and requires a balance between strategic thinking, operational execution, and people leadership.
This position operates in a distribution center environment with exposure to varying temperatures and may require flexible layover needs, including night shifts and weekend rotations.ResponsibilitiesLead, develop, and manage a team of 50-100 associates across multiple shiftsDrive operational excellence through management of KPIs, including productivity, quality, and safety metricsImplement and maintain standardized work processes to ensure consistent performanceConduct daily shift meetings and communicate business updates to the teamManage workforce planning and staffing to meet business demandsLead problem solving initiatives using Lean/Six Sigma methodologiesEnsure compliance with safety protocols and workplace standardsTrain and develop first-level associates and supervisorsCollaborate with support teams (HR, Safety, Training) to drive continuous improvementManage performance through data analysis and actionable insightsDaily activitiesLabor monitoring and managementMonitor Idle Time (TOT)Track productivity ratesManage break timesAddress frequency/attendance issuesMonitoring of adherence to processesQuality auditsSafety hikes5S compliance checksPerformance managementReal-time coachingOn-site trainingDocumentation of performance issuesProblem solvingAddress equipment issuesResolve process bottlenecksManage inventory discrepanciesBasic QualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalentWork a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidaysCan push and pull wheeled dollies loaded with products up to 100 pounds during shiftsSpeak, write, and read fluently in EnglishEmployee and performance management experiencePreferred QualificationsKnowledge of Kaizen and Lean methodology techniquesOur inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
