Project Manager - Ubuntu Embedded SystemsJoin to apply for the Project Manager - Ubuntu Embedded Systems role at Canonical.Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems to the global enterprise and technology markets.Our platform, Ubuntu, is widely used in enterprise initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT.Our customers include leading public cloud and silicon providers, and industry leaders across sectors.We are a pioneer of global distributed collaboration, with ****+ colleagues in 75+ countries and few office-based roles.Teams meet periodically in interesting locations worldwide to align on strategy and execution.We are founder-led, profitable, and growing.We are hiring a Project Manager - Ubuntu Embedded Systems at Canonical.This role involves coordinating and completing large, complex customer-facing projects, overseeing all aspects of delivery, and acting as the primary liaison between engineering teams and customers.You will manage projects involving the delivery of Ubuntu images on devices ranging from robots, edge gateways, and IoT devices to PCs and automotive systems.This is a high-profile position requiring building and maintaining relationships with team members, customers, partners/vendors (Silicon vendors, OEMs, ODMs, IHVs), and other departments.Location: Remote in the AMERICAs and/or EMEA regions.Key responsibilities include:Managing projects throughout their lifecycle to meet goals for Canonical and clients.Delivering engineering professional services for assigned projects.Collaborating with engineering teams on custom board enablement and Ubuntu image delivery.Developing project statements of work.Creating and maintaining project schedules and plans.Securing client agreement on schedules and work items.Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope and resources.Managing risk mitigation plans.Driving technical issues to resolution.Maintaining communication with clients and stakeholders.Managing delivery schedules of third-party contributions.Keeping management informed on project status.Identifying and managing engineering requests outside existing contracts.Promoting Canonical technologies to customers.Supporting work across different time zones and non-traditional hours.Desired qualifications:Proven project management experience in engineering services, managing software development teams and field engineers.Experience managing cross-cultural, multi-continent project resources, preferably in Asia, Europe, and the Americas.Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math preferred.Knowledge of Linux, open source community, and computer architecture.Excellent English communication skills.Strong leadership and problem-solving skills, with experience building partnerships and managing complex organizational relationships.PMP/PMI or PRINCE2 certification preferred.Willingness to work non-standard hours and travel up to 4 times a year.What we offer:Distributed work environment with biannual team sprints.USD 2,000 annual learning and development budget.Annual compensation review and performance bonuses.Comprehensive benefits including leave, parental leave, wellness programs, travel opportunities, and more.About Canonical:Canonical is a pioneer in open source, publishing Ubuntu, a key platform for AI, IoT, and cloud.We recruit globally, uphold high standards, and promote a work environment that fosters excellence.Most colleagues work remotely, and we encourage innovative thinking and continuous learning.Canonical is an equal opportunity employer.We value diversity and are committed to providing fair consideration regardless of background or identity.#J-*****-Ljbffr
