Job OverviewAs a seasoned backend developer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing scalable, resilient applications using Java and Node.js.The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with microservices architecture, Apache Kafka, and Kubernetes.A strong understanding of design patterns, system architecture, and microservices is essential for this position.Design and implement distributed backend services using Java and Node.jsBuild and optimize message-driven architectures and data pipelines using Apache KafkaDevelop scalable, resilient APIs and backend componentsWrite clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following best engineering practicesDeploy, monitor, and operate applications in Kubernetes across AWS and/or GCPCollaborate with architects and product teams on system components and integrationsParticipate in code reviews, system design sessions, and operational readiness activitiesTroubleshoot production issues across services and infrastructurePrototype new technologies to improve performance, reduce cost, and increase engineering velocityRequired QualificationsThe successful candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field5+ years of professional experience in software engineeringStrong expertise in Java (backend, microservices, distributed systems)Hands-on experience with Kafka (producers, consumers, partitions, offsets, stream processing)Proficiency in Node.js backend developmentExperience deploying services on KubernetesExperience with GitHub Actions for CI/CDPractical experience with AWS and/or GCPSolid understanding of design patterns, system architecture, and microservicesExperience with MongoDB and PostgreSQL (schema design, performance, migrations)Strong debugging, communication, and teamwork skillsAbility to work effectively in distributed teamsNice to HaveThe following skills are considered beneficial but not required:Experience with VOD Streaming platformsBasic knowledge of React for frontend integrationsExposure to IaC tools: Terraform, Helm, CloudFormation, etc.Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana)
