Structured Trade Underwriter

The Underwriter is a strategic professional with excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level.Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers.Accountable for significant direct business results or authoritative advice regarding the operations of the business.This 1st Line role would ideally be suited to someone working in the capacity of a Risk Approver or Senior Analyst, Coverage Banker, Transactor or Product Specialist covering Structured Trade Products such as Structured Receivable Transactions.If you are currently in any of these roles or have had experience in these roles, worked in these teams or similar business areas, then you should apply.Responsibilities:Work with Bankers, Product Partners and Underwriters in underwriting requests for credit extensions for new and existing clientsFamiliarity with credit structuring, legal documentation review and agency transactionsBuild a solid understanding of Citibank products and services within Trade, Banking and the broader organization.Perform industry, portfolio, geographical research and other due diligence as needed.Be familiar with Citibank credit policies and practices and regulatory policies, to assist unit in achieving compliance with the above and satisfactory ratings from internal and external auditors.Provides training for less experienced credit officers and other credit center staff in application processing, credit analysis and loan closing roles.Recommend changes to process to achieve greater efficiency.Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.Qualifications:Over 10 years of experience in senior-level underwriting or related leadership roles within financial institutions.Proven background in corporate credit analysis and risk assessment, with prior experience as a loan officer or underwriter.Formal credit taining is highly desirable.Advanced analytical skills including the ability to read and assess company financial statements, cash flow, industry and competitive analysis and projectionsDemonstrated knowledge of intermediate accounting theory and its practical application in the credit underwriting processExcellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to complete assignments in a timely mannerEffective written and verbal communication skillsProblem recognition and resolution skillsAbility to work autonomously and within a teamProficient in various spreadsheet and word processing applications (Excel and Word are preferred), including the use of graphs and charts, and Moody's financial analysis softwareEducation:Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting.Master's degree preferredEnglish fluency is requiredThis job description provides a high-level review of the types of work performed.Other job-related duties may be assigned as required.------------------------------------------------------Job Family Group: Risk Management------------------------------------------------------Job Family:Credit Risk------------------------------------------------------Time Type:Full time------------------------------------------------------Most Relevant Skills Analytical Thinking, Constructive Debate, Escalation Management, Financial Analysis, Policy and Procedure, Policy and Regulation, Product Knowledge, Risk Controls and Monitors, Risk Identification and Assessment.------------------------------------------------------Other Relevant Skills For complementary skills, please see above and/or contact the recruiter.------------------------------------------------------
