OverviewWhy join us?Handoff is the AI agent that runs a construction company.We help remodelers automate estimating, streamline operations, and win more work - backed by real-time cost data, intuitive design, and workflows that "speak contractor."With over 10,000 monthly active users and $6B in annualized project volume already flowing through our platform, we're becoming the trusted partner for the people who build our homes.We are backed by $25M+ raised from Y Combinator, Sequoia, Initialized, and Greycroft.Our team is distributed across hubs in Austin, São Paulo, and Buenos Aires, and we are deeply focused on building intuitive, high-impact solutions that make a real difference for our users.Senior Backend Engineer at HandoffYou'll take a leading role in designing and scaling the backend architecture that powers our platform.This isn't just a heads-down coding role - you'll be instrumental in evolving our infrastructure, improving developer workflows, and ensuring seamless performance and scalability across our core systems.You'll work cross-functionally with product, design, and AI teams to build a robust, secure, and highly performant backend foundation that supports both our web and mobile experiences.ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement scalable APIs, services, and data pipelines that support mission-critical workflows.Ensure reliability, maintainability, and security across all systems.Spearhead improvements in infrastructure and deployment strategies using tools like Kubernetes, Traefik, and AWS.Help us move fast without breaking things.Optimize application logic, database queries, and system performance to handle increasing workloads with speed and efficiency.Work closely with product, design, and AI teams to deliver backend solutions that support intuitive, AI-enhanced user experiences.Provide thoughtful code reviews, share best practices, and help foster a backend culture of quality, pragmatism, and continuous improvement.Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and observability systems that empower the team to ship with confidence and clarity.About YouBachelor's degree (or similar) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.7+ years in backend development, with a proven track record of building scalable, high-performance applications.Strong experience with Node.js, Python, TypeScript, and SQL.Deep knowledge of cloud-based architectures, especially on AWS.Solid understanding of Kubernetes, Traefik, containerization, and distributed systems.Experience building and mantaining CI/CD pipelines, managing cloud infrastructure, and ensuring production systems run reliably at scale.Experience optimizing API performance and database queries, reducing latency and ensuring seamless data flow between backend and frontend.Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, you're quick to adapt to changing priorities and balance rapid iteration with high-quality outputs.Proficiency in English is a must.What we offerCompetitivesalary in USDAttractivestock optionsUnlimited PTO
