Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities) Main purpose of jobThe UK PACT Officer will play a central role in the delivery and strategic coordination of the Brazil–UK PACT Country Fund, a flagship programme within the UK Government's global climate agenda.Working closely with the Head of UK PACT Brazil and a range of internal and external stakeholders, the postholder will help ensure the effective implementation of UK PACT projects in Brazil, supporting efforts to accelerate the country's transition to a low-carbon economy.The role combines stakeholder engagement, project management, communications and strategic foresight.The postholder will monitor the implementation of a diverse portfolio of technical assistance projects, identifying risks and opportunities, fostering collaboration between partners, and ensuring the programme's objectives remain aligned with both UK and Brazilian climate priorities.A key responsibility will be to embed Gender Equality, Diversity and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) principles across the portfolio, ensuring that UK PACT contributes not only to emissions reductions but also to more inclusive and equitable development outcomes.The successful candidate will act as a connector between multiple stakeholders to help unlock synergies, strengthen relationships, and identify new areas of impactful collaboration.The postholder will also support the Head of UK PACT Brazil in shaping the strategic direction of UK PACT in Brazil, contributing to Embassy-wide climate processes and supporting the organisation of high-profile events and visits that deepen the UK–Brazil partnership on climate.This is a dynamic and strategic role at the intersection of climate policy, international cooperation, and programme delivery.It offers a unique opportunity to contribute to one of the UK's most ambitious international climate initiatives, helping deliver real impact in reducing emissions, mobilising green investments, valuing standing forests, and promoting sustainable economic growth in Brazil.Roles and responsibilities1.Programme Delivery (50%)Monitor the delivery of projects in country, identifying and escalating risks, opportunities, and relevant developments to the Head of UK PACT Brazil.Foster collaboration across UK PACT initiatives by engaging with implementation partners, beneficiaries, and the programme delivery partner to identify synergies and joint opportunities.Engage and collaborate with colleagues in the Embassy to ensure UK PACT complements other UK government and partner activities working in the climate sector.Support the monitoring of programme budgets and assist with planning and logistics for official visits, events, and stakeholder engagements linked to UK PACT.Contribute to the organisation and delivery of the Programme Board and other internal coordination meetings, ensuring timely and accurate inputs into Embassy strategic processes.Perform as GEDSI Champion, ensuring gender equality, diversity, and social inclusion are effectively integrated and delivered across all UK PACT projects.2.Communications & Stakeholder Engagement (40%)Support engagement with key stakeholders, including implementation partners, government counterparts and thematic leads in the Embassy, by providing timely guidance and facilitating their interaction with UK PACT processes.Develop high-quality briefing and presentation materials to support meetings and ongoing engagement with both internal and external stakeholders.Monitor strategic communication opportunities and lead the design, planning, and delivery of communication campaigns to showcase UK PACT results and enhance the programme's visibility in Brazil.Publicly represent the British Embassy and the UK Government (with a particular focus on UK PACT programming) as a credible interlocutor in climate related engagements as necessary.3.Cross-cutting Strategic Contribution (10%)Contribute to the strategic development of UK PACT in Brazil by providing advice to the Head of UK PACT Brazil on potential impactful interventions on green finance, AFOLU, climate policy and industrial decarbonization.Support the team to scope and develop deeper climate collaboration with Brazil, at national, state and local level, fostering relationships across the Government of Brazil.Foster a culture of learning and collaboration across projects and partners to maximise impact and ensure continuous improvement in programme delivery.Essential qualifications, skills and experience Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in programme or project management, stakeholder engagement, climate change, sustainability, or international cooperation.Strong understanding of climate change mitigation and low-carbon development.Excellent organisational and analytical skills, with proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outputs under pressure.Demonstrated experience engaging with a range of stakeholders, including government institutions, civil society, private sector, and international organisations.Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Portuguese.Proactive, collaborative, and solutions-oriented approach.Legal status to live and work in Brazil in your own right, from time of application.Language requirements:Language: English and Portuguese Level of language required: Expert English and Portuguese (spoken and written).Desirable qualifications, skills and experience Knowledge of the Brazilian climate and sustainability policy landscape and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).Experience working on UK Government-funded programmes or with international donors.Familiarity with GEDSI
