Karkloof Area - KwaZulu Natal: Our client is looking for an experienced and energetic Avocado Manager to join the team.Minimum RequirementsAgricultural Diploma/DegreeAt least 5 years' experience in tree crops (avocados, citrus, or macadamias)Must have good record keeping skillsExcellent at management and training of labourAbility to work under pressureAttention to detailSense of urgencyAttention to detailMust be hardworking, driven to succeed and initiativeExcellent communicationAble to work unsupervised, take instruction and undertake training and assessmentMust be able to hold themselves to exceptionally high standardsAbility to speak Zulu essentialResponsibilitiesAvocado PearsAll aspects relating to the establishment and care of the avocado pear operation.Meeting with fertilizer and chemical reps and planning the associated programs to care for the Avo trees.Oversite of the avocado operations daily.Harvesting of fruitPruning of treesScouting for pestsSupervision of staffDevelopment of supervisors and team leadersTraining of labourCalculating tasks and dealing with disciplinary issuesAdmin and record keepingAttending grower days and self-improvementBasic Maintenance and management of tractors and equipmentDairy Agronomic OperationsThis aspect of the job will be determined by the applicant's ability to perform the above avocado duties as their primary function, once this is proven they will be required to assist with the management of:Maize SilageWorking with owner in all aspects of growing a maize silage cropCover CropsWorking with owner in all aspects of growing of cover crops behind the maize crop.PasturesWorking with owner in all aspects of growing of irrigated and dryland pastures, i.e., planting, weekly fertilizing, spraying, maintenance of fences, mulching.Supervision of general labour and tractor driversTrainingDisciplineHire and FireRecord keeping#J-*****-Ljbffr
