About the Role
The Chief of Staff to the Chief Legal Officer is the organizational backbone of the Legal function. This professional will own the strategic planning and the operating rhythm of the organisation, hold the leadership team accountable to its commitments, and act as a trusted, apolitical counsel to the CLO on what is really happening across the function and the business. This is a broad role rather than a specialised one. It spans strategy, governance, organizational awareness and selective representation of the executive, and it creates leverage by covering ground the CLO cannot cover alone. The person in this seat operates at peer level with the Legal leadership team and is credible with senior stakeholders across Nubank. It is a role built on trust. Much of its value comes from proximity to the executive and from access to context that is confidential, incomplete, or politically sensitive — and from the judgement to handle all three well. You'll be responsible for
• Owning the strategic planning for the Legal organization — shaping the agenda, running the process, and translating direction into commitments the team can act on;
• Driving alignment across the Legal leadership team on priorities, trade-offs and sequencing;
• Owning the operating rhythm of the organization: the forums, the cadence and the agendas, ensuring each one has a clear purpose, the right people in the room, and a decision at the end;
• Owning governance of commitments — tracking KPIs and OKRs, and holding leaders accountable to what they signed up for;
• Framing the material that goes to executive and board forums, so that leadership decides on the right question with the right context;
• Serving as candid, apolitical counsel to the CLO, bringing an unfiltered read of the organization — including what would not otherwise reach them;
• Building relationships broadly across Legal and the business, and using them to surface friction, risk and misalignment early;
• Driving the CLO's priority initiatives to impact, advising and unblocking without owning end-to-end delivery;
• Representing the CLO in selected forums, with the credibility to speak to their position and the judgement to know which decisions are theirs to make and which are not. We are looking for a person who has Professional experience & education
• Previous experience in strategy, business operations, management consulting, or an executive-adjacent role within a large, complex organization;
• Demonstrated experience operating alongside and influencing C-level executives and their leadership teams;
• Track record of running planning, governance and accountability cycles at scale;
• Exposure to legal, regulatory or compliance environments is an advantage.
• Exceptional written communication, with the ability to frame complex material for executive decision-making;
• Advanced level of Excel and PowerPoint (or equivalent) required;
• Fluent English; Spanish is an advantage;
• Understanding of AI tools, particularly ones for legal function preferred;
• Knowledge of legal operations is an advantage. Competences & attributes
• Extreme attention to detail, without losing the strategic frame;
• Builds trust quickly and broadly, with peer-level credibility among the leadership team;
• Strategic long-term thinker who is equally comfortable in the operational detail;
• Data-driven: forms a view from evidence and can defend it under challenge;
• Strong project management discipline across multiple concurrent workstreams;
• Absolute discretion with confidential and sensitive information. Location for this opportunity
