DSA Masonry Inspector

Position Summary We're hiring DSA Masonry Inspectors for long
- and short-term projects in Southern California and Simi Valley, CA, starting immediately Responsibilities
• Perform continuous and periodic special inspections of masonry construction in accordance with CBC Chapter 17 and DSA IRs.
• Verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, and structural details, including reinforcing steel placement, grout, mortar, and masonry unit installation.
• Inspect preparation and placement of:
• CMU, brick, and stone masonry systems
• Reinforcing steel, anchors, and dowels
• Grout and mortar mixing, proportions, and placement
• Confirm proper cleanouts, lift heights, consolidation, and curing methods.
• Observe and verify grouting operations, including pre-grout inspections and post-placement conditions.
• Maintain detailed inspection logs, reports, and documentation
• Coordinate with contractors, engineers, architects, and project managers Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid DSA Masonry Special Inspector Certification
• ICC Reinforced Masonry Special Inspector Certification (or equivalent)
• ACI certifications (preferred but may include):
• ACI Field or Laboratory Technician (as applicable)
• Minimum 3–5+ years of experience in masonry inspection and materials testing.
• Demonstrated experience on DSA K–12 or public agency projects.
• Strong working knowledge of:
• California Building Code (CBC), Chapter 17
• DSA requirements and Inspection Record (IR) documents
• ASTM standards related to masonry materials and testing
• Clear, concise verbal communication skills and professional writing for technical reporting The pay range for this position in California is $45.00 to 50.00 per year. Base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location of the candidate.
