Makino is a world leader in advanced CNC machining centers, automation systems, and manufacturing solutions. We are seeking a highly motivated Field Service Engineer to provide technical support, installation, maintenance, and repair services for Makino machine tools throughout Brazil.
This customer-facing role is ideal for a technically skilled professional who enjoys troubleshooting complex equipment, working independently, and building strong customer relationships. The Field Service Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring our customers achieve maximum machine performance, reliability, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Support & Technical Service
• Serve as the primary technical liaison between Makino and assigned customers.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, CNC control, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation-related issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and emergency service calls.
• Utilize advanced troubleshooting techniques to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
• Escalate complex technical issues when necessary and collaborate with product support teams to ensure timely resolution. Installation & Commissioning
• Install, commission, and validate Makino machine tools and related equipment at customer facilities.
• Verify machine performance against factory specifications and customer requirements.
• Support machine relocations, upgrades, retrofits, and system integrations. Training & Customer Development
• Train customer operators and maintenance personnel on machine operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Promote best practices that improve machine uptime and operational efficiency.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers through professional communication and service excellence. Documentation & Reporting
• Complete detailed service reports, installation reports, and expense documentation in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate records of service activities, parts usage, and machine performance.
• Utilize company systems and digital tools to support service operations and knowledge sharing. Qualifications Required
• Technical degree, associate degree, or equivalent training in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience troubleshooting industrial equipment, CNC machine tools, automation systems, or related manufacturing technology.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively throughout Brazil.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Preferred
• Experience servicing CNC machine tools.
• Familiarity with Fanuc CNC controls.
• Experience with servo systems, PLCs, industrial networking, and automation systems.
• English language proficiency for communication with global technical support teams.
• Previous experience in a field service or customer support environment. Travel Requirements
• Frequent travel throughout São Paulo State and other regions of Brazil.
• Overnight travel required based on customer needs.
