Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Tech Lead Senior AI-Native (dev ↔ product) at Shippit. The person in this role leads end-to-end technical design and implementation of AI-native features, collaborating closely with product management to define requirements, scope solutions, and prioritize the roadmap. Day-to-day responsibilities include guiding engineering teams on architecture and best practices, reviewing and writing high-quality code, and ensuring AI systems are scalable, reliable, and secure. This role also involves experimenting with new AI technologies, validating technical feasibility, and translating business problems into effective AI-driven solutions. The Tech Lead supports cross-functional stakeholders, mentors team members, and continuously improves development processes and product performance through data-driven decisions. Qualifications
- Strong experience leading software engineering teams and owning technical decisions across the product lifecycle, including architecture, design, implementation, and code review.
- Deep hands-on expertise in AI/ML development (e.g., LLMs, recommendation systems, predictive models), including model integration, evaluation, and monitoring in production environments.
- Proficiency with modern backend and API development practices, cloud platforms (such as AWS, GCP, or Azure), and scalable microservices or event-driven architectures.
- Demonstrated ability to work at the dev ↔ product intersection, translating business goals into technical solutions, collaborating with product and UX, and participating in discovery and experimentation.
- Experience with modern development workflows and tooling, including CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and performance tuning for high-availability systems.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to mentor engineers, influence stakeholders, and work effectively in distributed, remote-first teams.
- Comfort with data-driven decision-making, including designing metrics, analyzing product usage data, and using insights to refine AI models and feature behavior.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience; previous experience in logistics, e-commerce, or SaaS is a plus.
