About the Opportunity

Indicium AI is seeking a technically adept Director, AI Enablement to champion the cultural and operational shift toward AI-native engineering and product development. You will act as the "Bridge-Builder" between cutting-edge AI capabilities and everyday business delivery, ensuring that enterprise teams are not just adopting tools, but fundamentally changing how they work.

This role is for a senior technical leader who understands that AI adoption is a human and organizational challenge as much as a technical one. You will design the training, feedback loops, and enablement programs that allow teams to move from pilot experimentation to institutionalized AI fluency, ensuring engineering velocity and quality are drastically accelerated.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enablement Strategy: Define the enterprise-wide roadmap for AI adoption, identifying skill gaps, tooling bottlenecks, and cultural barriers that hinder developer and product team velocity.

  • AI-Native Upskilling: Architect and deliver internal enablement programs (workshops, pairing, mentorship) that elevate the technical capability of engineering teams in agentic development and modern LLM-integrated workflows.

  • Feedback & Loop Orchestration: Establish closed-loop systems between developers and AI platforms, ensuring that tooling evolves based on real-world engineering friction and performance data.

  • Adoption Metrics & KPIs: Define the metrics that matter for AI enablement—measuring not just tool usage, but developer experience, lead time for changes, and overall engineering efficiency improvements.

  • Cultural Transformation: Partner with engineering leadership to drive a mindset shift toward AI-assisted development, fostering an environment of experimentation, safety, and continuous learning.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Bridge the gap between R&D, Platform Engineering, and business delivery teams to ensure AI-native tools are seamlessly integrated into the developer experience.

  • Enterprise & Executive Alignment: Partner with C-level and engineering leadership to design holistic adoption programs, overcoming organizational friction and aligning business ROI with changed daily practice.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Technical leadership experience (e.g., Engineering Manager, Head of Engineering, Technical Principal), with a strong focus on developer enablement or platform engineering.

  • Deep technical background: You have been a practitioner, and your ability to "speak the language" of engineers is core to your credibility.

  • Proven track record of leading large-scale technical change initiatives or engineering enablement functions within complex organizations.

  • Exceptional communication and coaching skills: Ability to break down complex technical concepts into accessible narratives for diverse skill levels.

  • Strong understanding of modern AI-native development tools (e.g., Claude Code, agentic SDLC platforms) and their impact on software delivery lifecycles.

  • High agency and initiative: Demonstrated ability to build and iterate on programs from zero and thrive in the "ambiguity of enablement."

  • Proven track record in organizational change management, tech consulting, or agile/operating model transformation within large enterprise environments.

Nice to haves

  • Demonstrated expertise or domain knowledge in high-stakes vertical
