Product Designer Mobile

Ambanga Technologies is a small, fast-moving technology company building mobile and web products. Most of our team is based in Brazil, with a few of us internationally, and we work very closely across design, product and development.

We’re expanding our design team and looking for a strong Product Designer to join us.

We’re looking for someone with great attention to detail, strong product thinking and a real startup attitude. You need to be someone who looks beyond the screen you’ve been asked to design. Someone who asks questions, spots things others might miss and thinks about how the whole experience works for the user.

The role

You’ll work across our products, taking ownership of design work from early ideas through to implementation. You’ll work closely with Product, developers, QA and the wider team, and will need to be comfortable adapting as priorities change.

The role will include:

• Product discovery and exploring new ideas
• Turning early ideas into clear user journeys
• Researching competitors and how other products solve similar problems
• Wireframes, user flows and high-fidelity designs
• Creating prototypes for user interviews and testing
• Designing across iOS, Android and web
• Working with and improving our design systems
• Working closely with developers throughout implementation
• Improving designs based on feedback and what we learn from real users
• Occasionally helping with other design or creative work across the business

There’s a lot going on and plenty to learn, so no two days are exactly the same.

What matters to us

Attention to detail is a big one.

We need someone who naturally spots things that don’t quite make sense — a missing state, an unclear action, an inconsistency or something in a journey that could confuse the user.

We also want someone who can work independently. You won’t always be given a perfectly written brief. Sometimes you’ll get an idea or a problem and need to research it, ask the right questions and come back with possible solutions.

You should be curious and proactive. Look at what other products are doing, bring new ideas to the team and be willing to challenge something if you think there’s a better way of doing it.

We’re a very collaborative team, so you need to be comfortable sharing your work, receiving feedback and changing direction when needed. We move quickly and priorities can change, so being flexible is important. Sometimes something else becomes more important and we all need to jump in and help.

We’re looking for someone who takes real ownership of their work. The job doesn’t finish when a design is handed over to development. We expect our designers to look at what has actually been built, use it and help make sure the final experience is right.

What we're looking for

• Relevant experience as a Product / UX/UI Designer
• A strong portfolio showing real digital products you’ve worked on
• Experience designing for mobile and web
• Good understanding of iOS and Android UX patterns
• Experience with discovery, user flows and prototyping
• Experience creating prototypes for interviews and user testing
• Experience working with design systems
• Comfortable working closely with developers
• Able to work independently and take ownership of a piece of work
• Very strong attention to detail
• Curious, proactive and happy to bring ideas to the table
• Comfortable working in a startup where things can move quickly
• Fluent English, written and spoken

The setup

• Remote
• Contractor / PJ
• Monday to Friday
• The team starts at 7:30am Brazil time, so you need to be available for our daily meetings and team discussions
• Looking for someone who can start as soon as possible
