Relocation to Abu Dhabi Required

We're hiring a Senior Data Architect to help build a new Data Platform from the ground up for a specialist technology company in Abu Dhabi.

This is a proper architecture role. You'll have a big say in how data is stored, processed, governed, and accessed across a range of complex products and systems.

You'll be working in a predominantly on-prem environment, including systems that can be air-gapped or disconnected, so this isn't your typical cloud-first data role.

What you'll be getting involved in:

• Designing a shared Data Platform across multiple products
• Data lakes, warehouses and data management architecture
• Building the architecture behind operational, analytics and AI workloads
• Working with structured, unstructured, time-series, geospatial and binary data
• Designing for on-prem, air-gapped and low-latency environments
• Setting standards around governance, security and access control
• Working closely with engineering teams on the wider technical roadmap

What we're looking for:

• You'll have experience across data engineering/data architecture and be comfortable making high-level architectural decisions while still understanding what it takes to build and operate these systems.
• Strong experience across databases, distributed processing, messaging, orchestration, and data governance is important.
• Experience in defence, government, utilities, critical infrastructure, or other mission-critical environments would be particularly interesting.
• Please note this role requires you to work onsite in Abu Dhabi
