About Your Cohort

Your Cohort is a fractional CFO firm dedicated to turning financial clarity into an empowering experience for founders. We specialize in cash flow management, FP&A, financial modeling, and designing the right financial team structure for growing companies. We work with both bootstrapped and VC-backed startups across CPG, beverage, technology, agency, and other founder-led businesses.

Our approach goes beyond the numbers. We help founders understand their finances, make informed decisions, and scale with greater clarity and control. Whether a founder has strong financial fluency or is just starting to build that knowledge, we meet them where they are and give them the tools, insight, and structure they need to grow.

We believe the future of finance doesn't depend only on better accounting, but on smarter systems. That's why we're building a team that combines finance, technology, automation, and artificial intelligence.

Position Overview

This is not a traditional finance role. It's not a traditional engineering role either.

We're looking for someone who sits at the intersection of finance, technology, automation, and artificial intelligence. As a Finance Engineer at Your Cohort, you'll work directly with fractional CFOs, controllers, FP&A analysts, and founders to redesign how finance teams operate, eliminating manual work, building intelligent workflows, and implementing scalable financial systems.

This is a full-time, contractor position, and 100% remote.

This role is a great fit for someone with:

  • An engineering mindset, with a strong understanding of finance.
  • Genuine interest in artificial intelligence and where the future of finance is headed.
  • A love of solving complex operational problems.
  • The ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • A preference for building systems rather than repeating manual processes.
  • The ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical people.

Responsibilities

AI & Automation

  • Design and deploy AI agents for finance and accounting processes.
  • Automate repetitive finance workflows using modern AI tools.
  • Identify manual processes and redesign them through automation.

Financial Systems

  • Integrate accounting platforms, ERPs, payroll providers, banking systems, and operational software.
  • Build APIs between financial applications.
  • Improve system architecture and financial data quality.

Data & Analytics

  • Build dashboards in Power BI.
  • Create financial data models.
  • Design scalable reporting environments.
  • Develop executive dashboards.

FP&A Enablement

  • Automate budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Improve existing financial models.
  • Build planning tools used by CFOs.
  • Standardize KPI reporting.

Internal Innovation

  • Evaluate new AI tools.
  • Prototype new financial technologies.
  • Create reusable automation frameworks across clients.
  • Continuously improve operational efficiency.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience designing, implementing, or automating AI agents is a required qualification for this role. It is not a nice-to-have, it is a skill that will be evaluated during the selection process.
