Job Summary We are hiring an HPC System Administrator to work onsite at a customer in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as part of Lenovo Managed Services. Responsibilities Monitor, maintain, and manage the physical infrastructure of a data center, ensuring smooth operation, reliability, and security. Monitor power and cooling systems and network connectivity. Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software issues, including debugging system software. Respond to alerts, perform preventive maintenance, roll out firmware updates, and manage issues to minimize downtime. Serve as the customer’s single point of contact (SPOC). Open hardware trouble tickets with vendors and follow up to report progress. Provide daily system administration tasks such as granting and revoking access. Investigate and correct hardware defects in the cluster per service level agreements. Develop, test, and implement changes to resolve errors. Provide corrective and preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and isolate defects. Perform software and firmware testing for fixes, upgrades, and security patches. Update customer documentation when necessary. Compile monthly reports and participate in monthly customer service reviews. Install, configure, and support services within the central customer Research Computing Services platform team. Collaborate with vendors and the customer Technology Office on design, implementation, and upgrades using change management and revision control. Analyze and troubleshoot system issues and resolve complex problems. Develop innovative solutions to improve HPC and address provisioning shortfalls. Work closely with customer staff including Infrastructure Technology, Security, and Governance teams. Secure systems, seeking specialist security advice. Maintain knowledge of HPC developments through seminars, conferences, and community events. Support group activities, undertake individual projects, and document system design and management processes. Deliver high‑quality service through collaboration and analytical skills. Represent the customer in meetings and facilitate collaboration among partners. Assist researchers in utilizing HPC resources, providing subject‑matter expertise to the Customer Research Computing Analysts. Qualifications Experience in system troubleshooting, monitoring, and support. Experience with system administration. Experience with hardware support, break‑fix, replacements, and installations. Fluency in English and Portuguese. Independent capability to perform OS installation and upgrades. Strong problem‑determination skills.
