Position Summary
The Ski and Ride School Manager will work with the other managers to lead a team of supervisors, support staff, and instructors to deliver exceptional guest experiences within our product offerings. You will oversee the hiring, training, scheduling, daily monitoring of lessons, staff recognition and discipline, as well as termination of department staff. Additionally, you are responsible for working with other departments in the development and operations of daily and multi-week programs. You will assist in the development and management of departmental budgets with regard to labor, revenue, and operational expenses. Managers should identify and develop future leaders through succession planning and example-based leadership.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities-
- Assist Program Supervisors in determining the number of instructors necessary for program operations based on pre-sales and historical operational data.- Monitor regularly and help supervisors adjust staff schedules based on projected customer levels.- Assist in the hiring/re-hiring of supervisors, instructors, and support staff.- Ensure safety and guest service huddles and post injury (student/instructor) reports are completed accurately and paperwork turned in to the Risk Manager.- Complete daily/weekly informal Supervisor check-ins and have a formal goal and professional development conversation seasonally.- Nimble enough to handle miscellaneous projects and duties as they change throughout the day.- Ensure proper pay is issued for work completed. The Manager is responsible for reviewing the information the supervisors input into the appropriate systems and assisting the Payroll Coordinator in making corrections.- Purchase and maintain program equipment, including office supplies and on-snow activations. End of season closing and equipment inventory, and management.- Ensure that staff follow all company policies as outlined in the employee and department handbooks.- Organize and implement departmental meetings and attend required multi-departmental meetings.- With input from the SRS Leadership team, create and expand on our current program offerings.- Work with Training Managers to identify pathways for staff development.- Lead on and off-snow training to develop staff skills and knowledge.- Lead the supervisor team with role model behavior and being engaged from start to finish.- The manager is expected to support core values, service standards, and exhibit appropriate, pro-active, guest-friendly behavior.- Comply with any regulatory and licensing authority and protocols.
Secondary Function- Will be called upon to assist sales staff, teach lessons, and run the surface lift.- As a member of the management team, management staff members are expected to be an example to front-line employees across the company and work closely with all other managers to ensure continuity in staff presentation and service to our guests.- Demonstrate a "systems thinking" mindset and promote company-wide systems awareness to staff.

The Ski and Ride School Manager is responsible for the development and daily operations associated with all programs. All programs must be budgeted accordingly and operate as so.
