Position Overview

We are seeking aSenior Infrastructure & DevOps Engineer to helpdesign, manage, and automate our private cloud infrastructure . This role requires deep expertise inon-premises infrastructure —includingphysical servers, storage, virtualization (VMware & other hypervisors), and networking —combined witha strong DevOps mindset and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) approach .

You will play a key role inmodernizing infrastructure operations using GitOps methodologies , ensuring that our infrastructure isscalable, reliable, and fully automated .

The successfully hired candidate will receive onboarding and training in Lisbon, Portugal; gaining valuable skills while experiencing one of Europe’s most dynamic and renowned cities.

Key Responsibilities

• Private Cloud Management : Oversee and optimizeon-premises infrastructure , includingVMware and other hypervisors, physical servers, and storage solutions .
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) : Implement and enforceGitOps workflows , automating provisioning and configuration usingTerraform, Ansible, and other IaC tools .
• Virtualization & Compute : Manage and optimize virtualization environments (VMware vSphere, ESXi, KVM, etc. ).
• Storage & Networking : Design and managestorage solutions (SAN, NAS, SDS) and work withnetworking components (VLANs, Load Balancers, DNS, etc.) .
• Automation & CI/CD : Develop and maintain automation for infrastructure deployment, monitoring, and maintenance viaGitOps, CI/CD pipelines, and configuration management .
• Observability & Monitoring : Ensure system reliability throughPrometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or similar monitoring solutions .
• Security & Compliance : Implement security best practices, includingIAM, role-based access control (RBAC), system hardening, and compliance with industry standards .
• Collaboration & Documentation : Work closely with cross-functional teams to improveinfrastructure scalability, reliability, and automation processes .

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum 5 years in infrastructure engineering, with expertise in building, deploying, and managing global infrastructure systems.
• Linux Expertise: Strong knowledge of Red Hat Linux/Rocky Linux (or similar) and Linux system administration.
• Virtualisation: Hands-on experience with VMware ESXi for managing virtualised environments (installation, configuration, troubleshooting).
• Infrastructure as Code: Proficient in Terraform, Ansible, Packer, and Puppet for automating infrastructure provisioning and management.
• HCI (Hyper-Converged Infrastructure): Experience designing, deploying, and managing HCI solutions.
• Kubernetes & Containerisation: Expertise in Kubernetes, Helm, and service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio) for container orchestration.
• Networking: Deep understanding of high-performance networking, SR-IOV, NFV, and networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, DNS).
• System Architecture: Knowledge of hardware concepts (disk subsystems, memory, CPU, NICs, RAID, I/O subsystems, HBA, iSCSI, Fiber Channel, Ethernet) and performance optimisation.
• Security & Compliance: Experience with system hardening, compliance frameworks (CIS, GDPR), and IAM systems (OpenLDAP, Active Directory, PAM).
• Monitoring & Observability: Expertise in tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager, and Loki for system monitoring and proactive issue resolution.
• CI/CD & Automation: Familiar with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and contributing to infrastructure automation.
• Scripting & Programming: Proficient in Python, Bash, or Go for infrastructure management and automation.
• Storage Technologies: Familiar with SDS (Software Defined Storage) and data protection strategies (backup, disaster recovery).
• Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to resolve infrastructure issues under pressure.
