The RoleThis is an exciting opportunity for a candidate eager to help leading companies and market participants by delivering custom consulting engagements that enable clients to thrive in volatile commodity markets.
The Principal Consultant will lead and deliver custom consulting and research projects across the metals, mining and minerals industries, including tailored market overviews and outlooks, feasibility assessments and analysis, industry cost modelling and analysis, supply-chain mapping and material sourcing strategies, and other bespoke engagements.
You will join a dynamic global team dedicated to analysing and forecasting metals, mining and minerals markets, leveraging Fastmarkets\' data, insights and analyst team as part of our consulting delivery. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment and can manage multiple tasks and projects.
Responsibilities- Lead and deliver a range of commodity-related market consultancy projects across metals commodity verticals, independently or with delivery teams.
- Manage development and delivery of consultancy projects with a strong focus on meeting client deadlines, providing strategic, due diligence, and market/price forecasting services to global clients.
- Oversee consultancy deliverables that are robust, accurate, and well-researched, using modelling, data collection and research interview techniques; manage resources accordingly.
- Develop and support sales strategies and facilitate effective sales methodologies.
- Develop and build existing customer relationships and acquire new consultancy clients, including repeat business.
- Possess willingness to be responsible for the full sales cycle when needed.
- Assist with tenders independently or with delivery teams.
- Create customized detailed pitch decks and offers with strong market knowledge.
- Forecasting and CRM reporting; participate in events and sales/marketing activities to develop opportunities.
- Leverage professional networks to surface opportunities and source independent contractors as needed.
Experience and skills required
- 10+ years of consulting experience in metals, mining and minerals industries
- Strong acumen and drive for business development
- Ability to conduct and research commodity market studies independently or with dispersed teams
- Experience in complex solution selling and project execution/management for single-client engagements
- Experience in project and client relationship management across varying sectors
- Experience in growth strategy development and delivering high-quality work
- Strong commercial focus with experience engaging C-level stakeholders
- Fluent in English; a second language is preferred
- Willingness to travel when required
- Established client and industry networks are desirable
- Self-starter with a hunter mentality and ability to multitask
- Accountable and performance-driven; effective communicator
- Team-oriented with a client- and project-focused mindset
