Company Overview Darkroom is a technology‑driven growth marketing firm focused on growth‑stage consumer companies. Founded in 2017, we built an AI commerce layer called Matter to deliver high‑impact digital strategies that unlock revenue growth, transform marketing operations, and prioritize profitability. Role Overview We’re looking for a highly innovative, data‑driven Email Marketing Manager to drive client revenue across email, SMS and retention marketing. This fully remote role supports a team in the EST time zone and is open to candidates based in Spain, Mexico, Portugal, and Brazil. Responsibilities Lead a cross‑functional team to build creative email and SMS strategies that deepen client retention and build loyalty. Partner with internal cross‑functional colleagues to deepen understanding of customer needs and insights. Develop strategic campaign calendars, prioritize projects, and execute on automation/flow logic, pop‑up builds, and app integrations. Project‑manage and delegate campaign briefs to retention specialists and designers. Review all client briefs and designs for quality and accuracy before delivery. Assign segmentation and QA of email and SMS campaigns ensuring flawless delivery. Coordinate cross‑departmentally with Growth, Digital, and Marketplaces teams to develop cohesive campaigns. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in digital marketing with a focus on retention. Hands‑on experience scaling personalized D2C/e‑commerce email and SMS programs. Proficiency in Klaviyo or similar ESPs, including segmentation, lifecycle drip automations, and triggered events. Experience with Shopify and related tech stack (Privy, JustUno, Yotpo, Octane AI, etc.). Experience with SMS platforms such as Attentive, PostScript, SMSBump, or Klaviyo. Exceptional leadership skills with at least one direct report. Ability to translate data into actionable strategies and deliver measurable results. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Fast‑paced project management and multitasking ability. Commitment to continuous learning and staying on the cutting edge of DTC marketing. A Day in the Life Serve as the primary retention lead for selected clients and lead bi‑weekly client meetings. Report on strategic KPIs and provide actionable insights to grow retention engagement and revenue. Prioritize projects in email, SMS, loyalty, and subscription programs. Develop and review campaign briefs, designs, and quality assurance. Implement automation logic, pop‑ups, and integrations. Collaborate with Growth, Digital, and Marketplaces teams.
