And you’ll do it in modern, clean, safe environments equipped with the latest technologies. **JOB PURPOSE**: To provide expertise in specific areas of the manufacturing process to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective manufacture of product. **JOB RELATED STATISTICS**: Indeterminate **JOB DUTIES**: This is a staff position which is expected to function as a specialist with respect to a specific technical phase of the planning function and which generally falls within the major areas of releasing, Numerical Controls (NC) programming, processing, assembly processing, layout, work standards and manufacturing development. Work assignments may be specialized in nature but may also be broad based with coordination between other staff personnel to complete a larger project. Incumbents evaluate projects to define desired results and determine logical approaches. Evaluates such factors as cost, personnel yearly usage, equipment, space, etc. as well as other information needed to determine requirements. Prepares feasibility studies for appropriateness and cost effectiveness and submits recommendations accordingly. Results contribute to the effective management decisions in determining the most efficient processes, methods, machinery, tools, equipment, services and systems needed in the manufacture of product. Presente work assignments may be typified as follows: Projection, evaluation, specification and acquisition of new or replacement machine tools; capital forecasting correlation and reporting as it relates to new product introduction, prime product capacity increases, machine replacement, and methods improvement; substituting material or combining similar parts to realize savings through material prices and machining costs; analyze tooling failures and evaluate tool characteristics and requirements; plan factory and office layouts for effective utilization of space due to rearrangement, new processes or expansion, determining the need for modern facilities; assembly planning; develop and implement assembly processes in line with CPPD (Concurrent Process and Product Development) and NPI design changes, etc. This position encompasses planning, tooling, maintenance, plant engineering, releasing, machine shop, assembly, etc. wherever a specific technical assignment may be needed. Adheres to established standards, policies and practices relating to quality, cost reduction, safety, ergonomics, etc. in performing assigned duties. **BASIC QUALIFICATIONS**: - Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in an accredited Engineering curriculum - Experience - 1+ years of machining programing or 3+ years hands-on machining experience. - Familiarity with gear pumps & valves component suppliers and manufacturing processes - The ability to effectively develop and manage project plans from concept to production - Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and process partners - Fluent English **TOP CANDIDATES WILL HAVE**: - CNC programming experience. - Strong analytical skills & experience in the introduction of new components from concept to production. - Hands on Creo/NX, Tolerance Stack-up, and GD&T.; - Previous experience to resource components from other facilities. - The ability to work/lead multiple projects simultaneously and to make sound priority decisions. - A sense of urgency balanced with a strong commitment to quality. **The Caterpillar Code of Conduct states that we will select and place employees based on their qualifications for the job to be performed, without regard to race, religion, national origin, color, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age or disability.
